Because you need the championship playoffs to be played as well as the fixtures to be compiled, a month or so of transfer window and also time for players to be integrated into new teams in readiness for 20/21

Imo the 20/21 season won’t be played until the end of September at least

Rob, yeah that’s what I was thinking. We’ve also to consider what will happen with European qualifying. There’s been rumours that they’ll actually be scrapped, but I’ve not seen anything official on that.

Who cares. They're just had 3 months quarentinning in their mansions with private pools, gyms, pool tables cinemas and probably callgirls. They're getting paid enough to get on with it.

I think that’s going to be the case however it’s done. There’s a good chance that we’ll see a lot of injuries over the next 12 months due to not having the requisite schedule for good conditioning.

There’s gonna have to be. Especially given different leagues will be finishing at different times.

UEFA will want to get European competitions up and running as soon as they can. But can you see the Italian, Spanish and English leagues wanting to jump straight back into a season without having some prep time when the French, Dutch, German and others will have had an actual preseason due to when they finished?

Kickoff times when the Premier League resumes:

Friday: 2000
Saturday: 1230, 1500, 1730, 2000
Sunday: 1200, 1400, 1630, 1900
Monday 2000.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday games 1800 and 2000

The BBC are gonna be able to stream games too

There will have to be a pre season simply because of the promotion from the championship.

Their season finishes later than the PL due to playoffs and a final and then the fixtures need to be compiled.

There will also be big clubs in Europe playing through August. Europa and CL will finish after the domestic season.

The Mirror are saying the Merseyside Derby could be played in Manchester.

Boycott watching any of the games. People are dying. Money should not be more important than health.

I'll only be watching my own club.

To clarify I meant using potentially meaningless end of season games if nothing to play for. I do realise though there's quite a monetary difference between positions though.

Given there will still be a break between seasons, and new players won’t be playing at the end of this one, it’s not much use.

Get out of my house

The provisional plan for next season assigns a two week break from the culmination of the European and football league competitions to the beginning of the 20/21 competition. That plan assumed that the PL would recommence in the third week of June and be completed by the end of July, with European and Football League competition concluded in August. The 20/21 season proper will then start in September.

That might change slightly, but you can be certain there won’t be a full preseason.
