My wife's grandparents both have cancer and both have still been getting treatment through the pandemic.

Our good friends little boy has leukemia and he also has still been getting treatment.

I can't speak for everyone, but you can't say people aren't still getting treatment.

My brother in law has cancer and has been getting excellent treatment right through the pandemic. But I realise that some who are thought not as urgent go down the list.
But with the number of covid19 victims what else can you expect. Thousands hospitalised, thousands dead. What kind of health care system has that many free beds.

My Mother is at the age where it seems they're pushed back, but the Ambulance crew did ask if she thought she could manage at home, she said yes and they said its better for her because of the situation in Hospitals and they cant give any guarantees for her safety!..

They said if she thought she couldn't manage they'd take her with them, so, she may receive the best treatment but is at risk because of the Virus!..

..Hector....I grew up thinking she was the most powerful woman in the world!.

OP, are you minded to come back and defend or slightly revise your views in the light of some of the arguments and factual challenges that have been made?

Thanks Rosso.

One thing I'm glad of is that digital technology arrived in time for this crisis. I bought my mum a Chromebook and (albeit with a number of tense remote IT support sessions on the phone with her) that has enabled her to have regular face to face contact with family members.

I’m going through the same thing with my dad atm.

It has been a somewhat tortuous process

New hype, ffs. Your attitude to this whole thing has been pathetic, Jim.

I'm still hoping Jim Lahey comes back to this thread to address the substantive arguments and factual points made against his original statements.

Seems unlikely, RR. Hope you and the rest of the family are all keeping well after your loss.

The comments on this thread have been uplifting. Massive s to all of you with personal Cancer stories.

Glad to hear so many examples of people still getting the treatment they deserve. I guess there are some people out there who are to scared to go to hospital during the virus. Understandable but maybe not in their long term health interest 😓

Thanks Dazza. I think we're doing as well as can be expected, and I know that there are hundreds of thousands of people going through the same thing across the country.

I'm very sorry to hear that, goadocwatson. Everyone feels grief in their own way and the people we lose die in all sorts of different circumstances, but on a basic level, I think when we lose someone we love, we are all facing the same thing. You have my sympathy.
