want the league as strong as possible, got United coming up and I don't want to lose Hearts

the best away game and a venue that your rivals can drop points at
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hearts are going to be so weak next season regardless of what league they are in
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the entire league will see a drop in quality.

they were bottom of the league and won 2 and drew 1 against Rangers at Tynecastle

dont think they are going to get any weaker than that

played Rangers at Ibrox countless times never once did I think a Rangers Fan would attack a Celtic Manager, not once, Hearts on the other hand, absolutely and they proved it.

what about Celtic players?

someone was a few feet away from attacking Griffiths at Ibrox a few seasons ago

Sorry but take the money.

He's almost certainly not a billionaire but he seems t9 have access to funds.

He has channelled up to £10m into Hearts. Who knows where it came from.

If he can put a similar sum into Scottish football without conditions just to give his ego a boost then we should relieve the daftie of his cash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah see this is what I am wondering - what business man is going to put a decent sum of money into Scottish football just to be nice.

I may be being pessimistic here but you don't amass that money without having some business nous.

Yes it may be a financial hit now but I suspect it is either a flagship loss to garner attention for a profitable venture or it is a step towards a position of authority
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I get that too.

If he'll hand over cash with no strings attached now we need to grab it and keep the game going. If he comes back looking for favours later then we just send Lawwell to tell him to beat it.

He won't hesitate.

As soon as they stop this myth that they are some how going to be missed the better, odious club whos fans are utterly horrible real fooking spite with them, played Rangers at Ibrox countless times never once did I think a Rangers Fan would attack a Celtic Manager, not once, Hearts on the other hand, absolutely and they proved it.

Are you the real lex Baillie btw?

It seems like a decent gesture from someone who has clearly got money to spare and doesn't like the thought of this virus killing off teams in a league that's dismissed by all beyond our own borders.

What can't happen however is influence being used to bail out clubs who have been foolhardy in the financial stakes nor to let other clubs maintain a league standing they've lost.

As such I would have no problem with Hearts, Thistle and Stranraer being assisted financially more than others as they could have beaten the drop were it not for the leagues finishing before they were due to. That's a financial hit they shouldn't have to take because of a vote imo.

He doesn’t seem to want to put any caveats to this donation, which does seem a bit weird. If that’s the case, then I can’t see what the issue is.

If it helps keep football alive in Scotland, then I’m all for it.

I think they were hoping to get it done this week so if they do get it and there is no Quid Pro Quo then it should mean clubs can get the first 6-8 weeks of the season started August 1st behind closed doors.

Anyone spunking money on transfers should be excluded from receipt and maybe some could be held in escrow pending any second wave lockdown seeing as football businesses largely seem unable to have any reserves of funds?

I agree but only if the clubs used the furlough scheme. If they are able to spend money in this time then fair enough.

However, should a second wave hit and a further financial impact the club then hell mend them and I include Celtic in that statement.

I'm not convinced there will be a huge second wave but I'm not the experts loads seem to be on the matter

i know what you mean

i manage a team of public health doctors and nurses and they dont know for sure so how people on football forums do is a mystery.

Iran seem to be getting hit with a 2nd wave and they were on of the most severely hit early on

So a few thoughts;
- given the recent sponsorship of the SPFL, it would be a leap of gargantuan proportions to go from what we’ve had to a company like BG. I wouldn’t have thought their services are in much demand from the average punter, but if it was a way to market the game more widely then I’d be all for it.
- I don’t doubt that he would have the finances to be able to invest a significant amount. He isn’t a “wealth aff the radar” kind of guy. He’s a senior individual at BG living in Edinburgh.
- the devil will be in the detail of any caveats, as mentioned above it is no secret his support of Hearts.
- having him as a director of the SPFL (if that was part of the funding arrangement) would be a breath of fresh air in the dusty old boys club at Hampden. I can see him taking a dim view of some of the practices within the SPFL (such as the recent voting fiasco)

If its genuine then its a no brainer take the money those that have to, but why is it all smoke and mirrors and sneaky wee chats with Budge? Call me a glass half empty type if you will but why is this happening now? I am not but in my role at work I have to deal with a lot of very rich people and they rarely have no motive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that rich people have a far higher degree of motivation that anyone else.
