your title is pretty cheap.
low rent in fact.
Liverpool have one of the more active fan groups on here, plus they did it first - always likely to get comments (positive and negative).
Lots of clubs have made comments of support now. Given how influential football is and the sports own struggles with racism, personally I think it’s right to show support.
What was the publicity stunt?
It did come up on one of the existing threads to be fair.
Its great to see players and clubs doing whatever they see fit to advance this cause.
I think it was more of a players thing, its a tight family between players n staff there, didnt VVD n Gini organise it?
Anyway even if it is who cares when its only doing good? Same as Pogba on insta post 41m followers most of them surely kids? can only be doing good.
Don’t see it as a publicity stunt myself.
Wouldn’t pat your club on the back too much pal, was only a few seasons ago your entire team were wearing t-shirts in support of Luis Suarez for racial abuse.
People in glass houses and all that.

Some people are just never happy. Struggling to get laid or something?
This article was more of a response to one made yesterday saying it was a cheap stunt. I dont think it was.
Also Keano i think only a small handful of players from the suarez incident are still at the club and it seems the club has learnt a valuable lesson. Since then they have done from what I have seen countless of initiatives etc to tackle racism. But if you feel it makes you happy to score some cheap points than that is up to you.
How many more times do you need to
Hardly a publicity stunt, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world.. Everyone should be doing all they can to support against this vile racism.
I get why it was seen like that and my initial reaction was a bit cringe but it was the players idea which makes it more organic and acceptable.

Doesn't matter who's idea it was, we should not be judged by an incident from the past which is what certain posters are trying to do.
Personally I don't think we should mix these atrocities with sport. We have basically said what happens in the US matters more than the tenfold atrocities in a certain area in the Middle East and other areas in the world.

Just about everyone at the club has since come out and said it was a mistake. Also agree that mixing atrocities with sport can be risky. Don't agree with the last sentence though, that's not what it says or means IMO
Mamba
You mean the T-shirt’s being a mistake not the players taking a knee the other day?

Exactly. Many have said T shirts was a mistake. Should have made that clear.

I agree with that sentiment as it can open a Pandora’s box if people aren’t careful, which is why the governing bodies try to keep it out as much as possible.
I would caveat that with sometimes there are movements that go bigger than politics and more societal in general. I still think that people do need to be mindful about how they convey support and what for in those circumstances though.
There is a definite prejudice towards valuing lives in the Western world over others. Huge outpourings of emotion when it is something Western but barely a mention when it is something else. Just look at the Australian fires compared to equivalent or worse environmental and human crises - not explainable geographically only culturally.
