We definitely should have locked down 2-3 weeks earlier than we did. Absolutely no one on here disagrees with that.

But it is also clear that the population only had about 10 weeks of lockdown within their patience. I would happily lockdown for a further 12 weeks if that is what is required. Longer if necessary
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If the lockdown came earlier the virus wouldn't have been able to spread nearly as far, and less people would've died. If you understand that you have to agree that had they made better decisions (or if other people had been there to make them that listened to the WHO) the situation would've been different.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bales, that is exactly what I am saying. Lockdown earlier would have definitely saved some of the 40000 lives. How many exactly no one knows. But my point still stands. If we had locked down earlier, then the public would have called for easing earlier.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I agree there's a limit to people's patience. There's also a limit to what the economy can take. That's why people were sent back to work and football's restarting, after all.

I think we're done here, we're going round in circles now. We agree on pretty much everything - less people would have died if the government made better decisions. The details will be endlessly analysed and debated. Have a good one.

You too. Stay safe

What the public calls for?

The Karen’s have been calling for the end of lockdown for weeks already.

I think the public we’re pretty good up until Dodgy Dom’s escapades, but now it’s a free for all.

The majority of the public were superb throughout lockdown. There were some very highlighted cases of people who didn't give a damn. This does include high profile people like DC. Also young people who naturally think they are invincible. But overall I think people have done their best during something no one asked for or expected at the beginning of 2020

Any other UK government would be taking the same advice from the same specialists that the current government are, so having the Labour Loonies in charge (or whoever) would have made zero difference. This countries problem is the number of people per square metre, having a population density that we have in the UK was always going to make it difficult to control the spread of the virus.

They’re not taking advice from the scientists though, they are trying to gag them, and population density should have been considered months ago.

I usually agree with you on most things Billy. But the Tories have been awful in handling this. And calling Labour Loonies is hardly helpful. They have some very capable people within their ranks, and frankly are a lot more trustworthy than most Tory MPs.

I don`t think I have ever seen a more slippery collection of MPs in one Party, than the current Tory lot. Lying comes as second nature to them.

No. Taking advice an acting on it are two different things. We all know Boris and his key advisor didn't act on the advice. If Boris had listened he wouldn't have ended up in hospital. So it's not fair to say anyone would've done the same. In fact I would hope that everyone reading this would be smart enough to not go round a Covid ward without a mask on shaking everyone's hand.

Japan has a much higher population density than the UK and so far has only recorded 907 deaths, so that doesn't make sense either.

And face masks compulsory from 15th June, but not today, or for the last 3 months.

Ludicrous.

Yeah that is ridiculous lot others like the s3x being illegal now with someone else outside your household and wasnt from the beginning.

The mask thing has been confused/ridiculous from the beginning. It is simple to me. If you can get hold of a mask or make one, then just wear it. If you can't get hold of one, then don't take the risk

Bad leadership from the government and idiot members of the public. It's a deadly combination.
