You'd like to think that he inspires a lot of youngsters with his no nonsense heart on sleeve attitude. Would have been nice to give him an ovation off against Charlton.

Last thing I read was the above.

I’ve been massively critical of him in the past, however that said I’d keep hold of him myself.

There is just so much uncertainty at the moment around signing players, so keeping hold of him for backup next year makes sense to me.

Even if he ends up fourth choice centreback I’d be happy with that.

I just love Berardi! I really hope the club give him at least another year. After 6 years loyalty and always giving 100%, he deserves the chance to play in the Premiership (fingers crossed we get there this time!)

would love him to finish his career with us, is a true warrior, however if a good offer is not on the table, don't blame him. he would be a great squad player in the prem ( gotta get there 1st) get the feeling if we do go up he may pass way, if not he will stay

great squad player in the prem

Berardi is nowhere near good enough to play in the premier league, he plays only when others are not available and then out of position, gotta stop deluding yourself. Berardi is symptomatic of how thin our squad is.

is that not the definition of a great squad player

Madeley was a great squad player, really question your use of great here. He does a job at this level but do you really think Bera is good enough to cut it at Premier league level.
Think with the likes of Aguero or Salah bearing down on goal he will be found out pretty quickly.
He is not a great squad player, he's just someone who does a job because we haven't got anybody else available.
I think he might get an extension because they will look at the squad and realise just how many gaps need filling.

He's not a CB and is behind Ayling and Dallas at RB, his natural position, personally I think he would struggle to get a start in any fully fit squad in this division. League 1 defender at best.

he is not a great of the game, he a great squad player. there are mant squad players in many teams in the prem who are not good enough, he does a job all teams need them

Think with the likes of Aguero or Salah bearing down on goal he will be found out pretty quickly.....

...........just like all the other defenders put infront of them.

roumers abound james at scoom is gonna be loaned out, not good enough for pl?

The way he says he Hope's to go out on a high, winning the league makes it look like he thinks he wont be here next season.
I think we should offer him another year, but I don't think he will want only 1 year.

Bad management. We should have 4 'Actual' centre backs, not 2 and a couple of full backs. It cost Man City the title not having enough CB's

Said it many times, love Berra. For me,
he's like Andy Hughes, great pro and
understands the club, the fans. Tons of
heart and always gives everything.

Hope we go up. And hope he's with us
another season as a reward.

Batty, disagree with this, you can't 'reward' players by being in the squad, what sort of ambition does that show?.. if are are not good enough, then they shouldn't be in. Many on here would be the first to point out 'bad management' if we kept a player on the books that wasn't good enough... but, for me, this doesn't apply to bera anyway, I think he could play a decent role for us. just saying Bats

I actually think Bera is good enough as a squad player, but also, as a guy you'd have around and needed in the dressing room, not sure you'd want to lose that sort of passion from any dressing room.

Kamy - totally agree on Bera and an all round squad player too..

ref James, well, I put him in my fantasy team early on in the season, did well, in fact he was the only Man U player getting any points.. but for a long time now, he's been poor

Having pace is one thing, but he is weak physically, and his final ball isn't there.. he's still young, so he'll natrually grow stronger, prob needs to be loaned out for a little while.. I'd him at Leeds to be fair.. but not sure he'd get the game time
