I’m not a derby fan, but I think that post is the most beautiful thing I’ve read on here. Quite touching..

Seriously the Goat of Derby posters ever and from the old BBC 606 included.

Glad to have met him and shared a playoff semi final with him in the stands.

Proper funny and profound, great mix.

Take care bro

Wow, blast from the past.

I remember this article getting a load of 5 stars on the old 606.

“ football should be about the simple emotions of joy and sadness rather than bitterness, rage and hatred”

Absolutely right.

Wonderful post - thanks for sharing.

This is a wonderful post. Brought a tear to my eye. I think we can all connect with it. Football brings us all so much.

I know that some of my best memories growing up involve football and my dad. He took me on the kop at Hillsborough for the first time when I was only four. It was standing only back then so I would be put on his shoulders. In the years that followed we hardly missed a home game. I remember going to most games with my dad, younger brother and my dads best mate. At half time my dad and his mate used to share a flask of bovril. I always wondered why I wasnt allowed any and only found out years later that it was actually whiskey. My dads mate used to stand up as the match kicked off and shout "come on Wednesday" at the top of his voice. I used to think he was silly as everyone looked at him. He died a couple of years ago and now every match I go to I do the same. My boys look at me the same way I did at him. It will be a lasting memory that they have.

Football can bring people closer together. Long may it continue.

My dad first took me to old Trafford when I was 6 years old and supporting United has been our greatest bond ever since, what great times and moments we have had to share, he too lost my mum 11 years ago and a part of him went with her but my dad is still here in old age, we can still talk football and dream together we will be back, this post touched me a lot.

Moving stuff from the legend of 606.

Welcome back 666. Mr Keogh has disappeared from the scene. There should be nothing to divide us now. But he did put in some great performances that I have seen on RamsTV past games.

666, thanks for this. It was down to yourself that the original article was picked up on so widely and of course led to an interview on Radio Derby with the great Colin Bloomfield. I found the many responses at the time from fans of all persuasions very moving. Often the only contact we have with opposing fans is with the thicko windup merchants and it was really reassuring to know that underneath these there is a bedrock of decent genuine football lovers at all clubs.

Not you, of course, you never did know owt. I have no idea at all why people claim to miss you on this site.

Why is 666 getting praise for a blatant piece of plagiarism?

Whete has he plagarised anyone Spart, it clearly says "by vidalslastapostle" in the heading.

Are you sure you've not had Covid-19, it does affect eyesight apparently!

Well Scouse I'll put the completes work of Shakespeare on here and you can all compliment me about my writing skills. Or let me just dig back and put someone else's post on here. Why would anyone just copy some one else's stuff. I know it's obviously Vidal's but why do it. Is this becoming like TV and the same programmes appear week after week on different channels.

But it's my own shiite although I don't actually possess a follower of a branch of Islam.

Vidal ... I'm pretty sure I cried a tear or 2 when I first read that 10 years ago (can't believe I've been on here/the old site so long)
And its got to me again.

My dad is 86 now, 87 in August.
More than anything, he wants to see Derby play one more time at Pride Park (although he'd be happy with Wembley too!)
He's frail but VERY stubborn so I'm talking to people at the club to see if there's anything that can be done next season (assuming fans are allowed!)

In the meantime, hes looking forward to RamsTV bringing him "free" coverage of every game. (I havent told him I'm paying it ... he'd tell me off!)

Anyway, great re-read and a fitting tribute to your dad.

And 666 ... Nice to hear from you too. I've lost 35kg since you last posted on here. How's your waistline?
