Hard to call tbh

pre covid break we were in great form and I thought we'd get top 4

Nobody knows what anyone's form will be like or what impact having no fans will have on teams

Does anyone know if we get 5th and City get banned from the CL and we also win the Europa League do we qualify for the CL twice? Get to play in two groups only fair as we qualified via two different routes. The matches could easily be played week about.

Not sure, but Ed should bring that suggestion to UEFA, they’d be well up for it. Maybe along with just putting the big clubs in a group with randomly picked dross who have to win 20-0 in every game to be allowed through. That way it keeps the CL pure for the big boys. Or they could just give the trophy to the richest team?

Dont Real win it every year anyway?

I really believe so much depends on our first game, at Spurs. Win that and we have a great chance of top 4. Don’t win, and assuming Chelsea win at Villa, it becomes a big ask (5 or 6 point gap)

In that instance, we enter into both the CL and the Europa.

If we win both... Which United do we support in the super cup

I will cheer on both then decide after the final whistle. The winner will be showered with praise. The loser will be taunted and booed until my throat is sore.

They will reintroduce sharing of a trophy, that way we can say we won it twice

Spurs have definitely benefited most from COVID and getting the players back. The first game probably decides it for me though. Utd win and they get CL football. Spurs win and they get CL football. A draw and it will got to Wolves of Sheff.

Nah. We have Rash and Pogba back.

We currently have 4 points on Spurs, plus they have to play Us, Sheff Utd, Arsenal and Leicster.

Yes but they were being hit harder by their losses than we were ours leading up to the lockdown. I think he’s right, Spurs benefitted most

I agree that our first game will be the biggest indicator in all likelihood 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

With the form of both teams before lockdown, I’m convinced we’d have gone there and won, had the game been played.

Let’s hope the confidence from before carries on into this game, and the lack of home fans benefits us!

Jose definitely won’t want to lose which may play into ours hands

Indeed

Regardless of top 4 my main priority is simply that we can continue to play well, the grow that was the best part of just before lockdown. Top 4 / CL is a bonus, I just want consistency of decent football back. Our defence was looking solid now hopefully midfield & attack and they can all remain consistent.

I’ve thought this so much over the last few years; we’ve lacked leaders. Look at the effect Bruno had, we should almost always try to sign captains 😂

Agreed. Just look at the last title winning team in 2013.

Rooney, Evra, Vida, Rio, Giggs, RVP were all leaders of sorts.

At least we’re starting to see it now from Maguire, Bruno and i think also Rashford and McT are showing it too

i'd be very suprised if utd leapfrog us, but not entirely impossible.
With injuries to kante, kovacic, loftus cheek, hudson odoi, pulisic, our whole back 4 and many others for long periods we still managed to be in 4th.
Hopefully our players are back fit now. Looking forward to seeing pulisic again who was starting to play very well

You have to play City, Liverpool, Sheff Utd and Wolves still. Tough games including a couple of 6 pointers

doesnt make much difference, we were slipping up against the poorer teams most the season as our team was threadbare.
Im hoping we can actually put out a full match day squad now that people have recovered.

Hmmmm

Full squad or not, they are tough fixtures. Certainly tougher than United.

havent you been doing well in the bigger games?
I'd just be very suprised, not that its impossible. Our squad fully fit is the third best in the league imo. Just we've never had that luxury with players like guehi having to be on the bench.

posted on 8/6/20

We were, but we’d also gone 11 unbeaten.

I’m confident we can take 4th anyway.

well 5 league games. It will be interesting though.

4 - Chelsea
5 - Man Utd
6 - Sheff Utd
7 - Arsenal
8 - Wolves
9 - Burnley
10 - Tottenham
11 - Crystal Palace
12 - Everton
13 - Newcastle Utd
14 - Southamptom
15 - Watford
16 - Brighton
17 - Aston Villa
18 - Bournemouth
19 - West Ham Utd
20 - Norwich City

Only real change from now is West Ham and Aston Villa swap places.
That is based on form from their last 9/10 games but it all depends on what they have been doing during the break.
There are teams like Arsenal and Burnley who were on a bit of a good run, while Villa, Southampton and West Ham were struggling.
But it's "Goodbye the Yellow Brick Road" for the Canaries. Sorry Delia.
