Yes, the face (good guy) & heel (bad guy) dynamic is a wrestling thing

LOL..... wrestling terminology meaning good guy & bad guy. 'Face' I can understand the confusion from non-wrestling fans but 'Heel' I'm surprised by, always been an old fashioned term for a villain removed from anything wrestling related? Oh well.

Lower, mid, upper card and main event no different from a boxing or MMA event. Basically a hierarchy system determined by popularity.

NEVERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

And are you NPE by any chance? One Buffy exchange aside I'm noticing a trend with this username that reminds me of someone.

Love this article. I'm a wrestling fan also.

Agree with most of your characterisations, except the Arsenal one.

Arsenal will always be a main-eventer - we could lose 100 games in a row and people would still talk about us and tune in to see us lose 101. We ain't no mid-card team.

Yeah that's sound. If I was bothered I'd have specified lower main event & that's where Arsenal would be right now, so would Chelsea

The sympathetic tweener bit stems from an ArsenalFanTV binge during lockdown. Think Jericho's WCW rant where he listed all of his moves, whiny but highly entertaining

It is NPE right? My uncanny ability to p!ss him off without meaning too or even talking to him directly is too similar

Yeah the Jericho WCW list rant - Arsenal Fan TV comparison is class.

Also I'm not sure why I said the 100 losses thing lol... if any pro team lost 100 games in a row, they'd be the talk of football That would surely be a record.

I'm just catching up on 'The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever' from last night. Which so far has been far from The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.

I saw an article a few days ago saying they were pre-taping it so they could rehearse & fix things in post-prod. Good to see WWE actually putting thought into one of their cringey promotional slogans, even if the match isn't "the greatest ever" I can appreciate that.

I'm a massive Orton fan but personally never liked his matches vs. bigger or similar sized guys. He tends to work best with quicker, agile guys (e.g. Hardy, Rollins, etc...) who complement his methodical ring style. His matches with Edge in the past have been OK, nothing memorable.

It turned out to be great match in the end.

They went for 45 mins. I enjoyed the opening, then it dragged for a while until around half-way. But the last 20 mins or so were excellent - one of the best matches of their careers for sure.

It went longer than their WrestleMania match but felt shorter - which is indicative of how much better it was.

Cool. I'll check it out on YouTube when someone uploads it. I didn't see their WrestleMania one, caught some of the promos in the build - very good, felt raw.

Last match/segment I saw was the Cena-Fiend thing, and really enjoyed it.

Just looking it up I see Orton won with The Punt!

Looking forward to it now, bout time they brought that back. Flashback to the REALLY good Orton days

This is where I watched. I used the 'PrimoGo' vids. Good quality as well.

This is the type of site I use to catch up on the wrestling nowadays. Very rarely watch live anymore.

The last PPV I saw live was the WM when the Hardy Boyz came back and I marked out.

Thanks for the recommend. Best match I've seen in years

Reminded me of the big PPV matches in that 2003-07 time period. Kept a good tempo that ebbed & flowed, liked the little innovative counters throughout, love the consistency of working specific body parts (wrestlers today neglect this far too often). Got a bit silly towards the end with the 'random move-two count-breath' pattern but "greatest match ever" build I guess that's expected.

And the teenage fan boy inside me must still be alive cos I legit popped when that punt came out of nowhere . Better than the RKO, don't care what anyone says

posted on 17/6/20

Yeah I loved that he ended it with the punt.

It was a nice touch how Orton demanded the straight-up wrestling match, then in true heel fashion, used a low blow to set up the punt.
