Part of it is probably the “new fan” which has taken over the stadiums, families from the suburbs who’ve priced out the traditional irking class fan

I never got this analogy, surely it’s the suburbs which have the largest demographic of working class people? It’s certainly the case in London anyway.
I don't hear racial abuse from those sat around me in the stands either.
I hear lots of anti scouse, ginger, tall, thin, fat, bald, northern, southern, sexual, wag etc. abuse, but never skin colour abuse.

Absolutely - and it's become socially unacceptable, which is great.
But don't for a minute think that means it has reduced massively amongst those people... they just have to be more careful about when and how they air their views.
How many thugs on the terraces from the 80s were capable of learning and changing their minds? Not many, I'd wager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
probably not, however we are talking 30 years or so since the days of Barnes and Blissett.
There is a new generation of fans attending games now, possibly even 2 new generations who have been educated much more than the previous ones
while i dont think its totally gone there has been definate improvements
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly - generational shifts.
And I do believe that as generations come through, things continue to improve. In the UK anyway.
But it won't happen by itself.

Hughton has been treated pretty badly tbh
sacked after skooshing the championship, sacked after keeping Brighton up a few seasons
has he got a club since?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hughton was awful at Brighton in his final season. I live in the area and go to watch them a few times a season when I can't watch Wolves. He was incredibly negative and was only taking them one way. You'd struggle to find a Brighton fan here that didn't think his time was up.

Yes, as I said, some things have become less socially acceptable.
Doesn't mean those people don't still hold these views though.
Sterling is very right to bring this issue up. Whichever way you look at it, the lack of black managers at the top level really can’t just be due to a coincidence and represents the systemic and institutional racism in the English Football League system, despite some best intentions. It is actually a good example of the institutional/systematic racism still present.
I think he simplifies the argument down by bringing up Lampard and Gerrard and comparing them to Cole and Campbell as isolated cases.
I’m cautiously hopeful that I think in the next decades the situation will change, not just in football but in other organisations, of seeing more BAME people in leadership/management at the top. BAME population do have a lower average age than their white population. Unfortunately that will take a long time (assuming BAME people will naturally assimilate into more managerial/leadership roles as we grow older) and still doesn’t guarantee cessation of the covert racism any have.
I can't begin to understand how a chairman can have a list of candidates and exclude some based on skin colour. You look around the world and throughout history and it's difficult to pick out top black managers but then that leads you to the question is it possible that managers aren't as good because of their skin colour? Well it can't be, can it? Which would leave you to believe they haven't been given the same chances.

I don't think it's quite that simple TOOR.
There probably is an element of difference in ability but if that is the case, it will be because of a lack of opportunity and support at the early levels - not because there's something different about their potential.
This is when it becomes about a systemic problem and one that requires interjection in order to change.
How many black coaches are there?
We should be pushing heavily for gay and Asian coaches as well, we need exact equal numbers comparative to the population
People should be awarded jobs based on their ability to do it, not for the sake of diversity.
