Just to point out a flaw in your " shall we just scrub all history from the books?" argument.

"I truly think we are going to have start buying hard copies of things."

The things that have been removed from these platforms are still available.

Its nonsense. if they had issues with these shows. why wait until people riot to remove them?
Its like, oh yeahhhh that's gotta go now. We have to
appear to be doing something right..Its so pedantic

It's getting silly, it's like they're just picking and choosing what to be offended by.

Perhaps we should start tearing down all of the churches & mosques as Christianity and Islam were built on the back of violence, bloodshed, persecution of minorities, slavery, marrying 9 year old girls etc. All of which just as offensive as a Bristolian philanthropist who died almost 300 years ago.

Will Lewis Hamilton quit Mercedes as they built cars for Hitler? He's also sponsered by Hugo Boss who designed the uniforms of German soldiers, and profited from slave labour of concentration camps. Same applies to Raheem Sterling and his Abu Dhabi paymasters.

The BBC and other organisations, will have scour through their entire archives to find anything that could be considered racist.sexist or homophobic. And delete it.

Barely 2 months since the BBC resurrected it for one of their do a lot of work for charity mate evenings.

As for whoelse's point, good luck with that, you can pretty much write off anything pre-2000 with that approach. I foresee an increase in the licence fee to fund an army of lord chamberlains, putting together an index of banned works, and deciding whether tarantino's use of the n-word is ironic enough to be allowed, and whether each and every use of the f-word refers to a pile of sticks, a tasty black country dish, or a homophobic slur.

I've kept hold of a VHS copy of Song of the South in the hope that one day it will be worth a fiver.

Only that and Jurassic Park survived the VHS cull of 2016.

I’d imagine they’ll delete the blackface bits and restore the rest of it. Tbf, can anyone make a legitimate argument why the blackface stuff should be on there?

I don’t think the bbc and Netflix have a whole heap of choice in this, especially bbc who have to answer to the govt. Netflix could happily laugh it off, but haven’t.

The real problem is the people who moan about things like that being offensive. That’s the real issue. As long as they keep complaining (and I bet the bbc would be filled with complaints if they showed little Britain again, at least from some). They have to be seen to do them right’ thing, hands are pretty much tied when you have people with loud voices moaning about this.

Which brings me to platforms like twitter who have been responsible for a lot of these voices gaining traction, resulting in things like this being done by the likes of bbc, Netflix being under fire..You just need to look at how things go ‘viral’ these days to see all it requires is one post to gain traction and become a thing.

it was a comedy, tongue in cheek

I agree Little Britain isn't really worth missing but its more the point that now we are censoring things because they don't fit the current mood.

gone with the wind however is a classic, to kill a mockingbird will be next

There’s a difference between being mildly un-PC and a show doing blackface.

Gone with the wind isn’t really going anywhere. It’s just temporarily being taken off at a time of high emotion and will return in a few weeks with some kind of advisory.

As I say, your raging against the wrong target, it’s those that complain loudly about this that are the issue, not organisations who have to be seen to respond.

Comedy’s comedy, everything should be on the table for us to decide whether it’s funny or not. If you go back to some of the early Only Fools episodes there are some jokes that haven’t really stood up to the test of time, but it’s still a great series overall.

Would like to know who actually complains about these things though, I’ve never actually come across someone complaining about something like Little Britain.

What about the fat, disabled, old, council estate, gay, sexist scenes as well?

Then where do go from there, start deleting stand up comedy too and everything else that mocks everyday life in the UK.

I mean, the show title say it all. 'LITTLE Britain' they mocked everyone and everything and people 'got it' that's why it's funny.

Of course the monarchy will have to go or maybe they'll keep it so that they have a job for nicholas weasel or whatever his name is.
Not sure why protesters are bothering about a few statutes. Should just march on buck house and tear it down.

I would agree, as long as not done in a racist manner, then everything should be up for mick taking.

I bet there’s loads of people that complain about stuff like that...
