You can't just go around tearing statues down and expect no reaction to such provocation. The football lads alliance or whatever they are called are stupid as hell, but the statue vandals reap what they sow, they are simply receiving an equal and opposite backlash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How the feck is pulling a statue in Bristol down an act of provocation to football fans living in Hertfordshire?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not specifically that, the events in general. How is vandalising Churchill, trying to set the flag on the cenotaph on fire and trying to remove the Scouts founder not a provocation on the history of this country?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How is it provocation to a 40 year old Spurs fan living in Bushey?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is a provocation to anyone who loves their country.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolute bull.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re talking out your wishy-washing, PC brigade botty-hole
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You don't seem to have the intelligence or maturity for reasoned discussion, so I think perhaps it's time for you to leave.

Maybe come back when you've grown up.

That group are going down there with the hope that they can cause some violence under the pretence that they are patriotic heroes. Then they will act like victims when more of them are arrested than the group that are there in the majority to peacefully protest.

Its so predictable. Tommy Robinson will love it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Crazy isn't it. Who could have seen vandalising the memorial of Britain's greatest hero provoking the nationalists? Ultimately the cowardly police are to blame. If the authorities don't stop the vandals, vigilantes will.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Imagine Winston Churchill being the greatest hero. That’s where the country is going wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is. Get facked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What was so heroic about the evil deeds he was responsible for? It explains a lot tbh how there could be so many dumb people in this country when they hero worship a guy who by all accounts should be remembered in history amongst the worst of the worst.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ungrateful facking sheit. You can't judge yesterdays people by today's standards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, I’m sure you can.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can, but only a reetard would, which is why you so wilfully do it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So let’s get this straight 😂

People are fighting to keep these statues of historical figures up

But you’re not allowed to judge these historical figures because it’s all in the past ?

😂 Riiiiight.

Could you imagine the outcry of someone defaced Nelson Mandela’s statue in London - there would be an absolute sh!t-storm

But hang on, wasn’t he involved in murder, crime, violence and terrorism in his early life? 🤔
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shhh :o

Just Shoot (U10408)

I see what you're getting at, but not sure why that leads to what are ultimately racist views?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending any kind of racism. However ... (😂 I know how that sounds) a distinction needs to be made between making a racist comment, and being a racist. The two aren't the same.

Many times people saying things without actually thinking of the ramifications and can be done in the heat of the moment just for spite. But it isn't a true belief.

Take the JT Ferdinand issue or Suarez issue. Both said racist comments that shouldn't be ignored. But I don't think either are racists.
Of course both need to be eradicated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh I completely agree with you there.

But I do believe there's an undercurrent of racism within a lot of football groups.

Funny how they're so keen to stick up for statues but not black people's lives, isn't it?

To be honest, no - I'd seen the pleas from various figureheads for both sides to stay away.

That will be good news if true.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. It pishes me off, but not enough to go, if someone wants to I encourage them
2. Who said violence? I was referring to people protecting statues. As I said before the right wing thugs getting involved is dangerous, but take the community defending Scout leader Baden-Powell yesterday. They responded to provocation by left wing thugs trying to get the statue removed, whats wrong with that?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well this discussion is about 'football groups' planning to go into London and protect the statues - which we've seen in the past week is a nice way of saying that they're going in ready to abuse and to fight.

The idea that if you care about your country then you must feel provoked by what has happened is absurd.

The whole concept of statues is ridiculous anyway. Take them all down. People talk about erasing history but the Hitler one was taken down and I’m fairly certain people know who he was
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Including Fergies at OT?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you agree to let us keep that one, we'll agree to tear down the Howard Webb one in the secret bunker.

Yep if someone wants to vandalise Churchill with no police stopping them we should definitely just sit there and do nothing about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People see the cenotaph, union flag and Churchill attacked by those activists protesting about a cop killing a man thousands of miles away.

If I was in London, I would attend a protest against those attacking the flag, cenotaph and Churchill....well, if covid19 was not an issue, I would, as I forgot about that, lol.

I also back peaceful protests against racism and cops killing black people.

There's no protest.

There's a bunch of white, bald / skin heads travelling in to stand next to a statue.

The chances are, while they're there, they'll shout obscenities, racial abuse and look for any excuse to get involved in a fight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it depends because we are so polarised now. Half of our country hates the person that stopped us being invaded by Germany. For normal people though, how is vandalising the statue of our war hero leader not an act of provocation?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So what does being provoked mean then?

Because I hate it, but I don't feel provoked. It's not an attack on me.

BLM have done the right thing by calling it off. Now anyone on either side that turns up are not interested in their 'cause' just violence/trouble making.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is fair, and thank goodness.

Don't have to shave my head, get the Burberry and Stone Island clobber out and phone round Rangers ICF and the Chelsea loyalists now.
