and why would you stagnate Greenwood by sticking him on the right when the kid is our best natural finisher

If we were 100% confident of getting Sancho next summer I’d just go with Greenwood/James on the right for a year.

Yep. Both players are more useful than Willian.

Greenwood has stagnated playing on the right this season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s 18. Plenty of young players get their start coming on and playing on the wings when they break into football. I doubt he will stagnate as he’s done well there this season. One more season of it can hardly hurt him.

he's good if he get him he's bad if we don't. Dunno who he is

Surely there had to be other alternatives.

Didn't want him under Mourinho... Want him even less now

He's just not that good

If we do this... After signing Maguire... Then Ed is taking the p**s out of Jose

That’d be the only silver lining.

I don’t even think the William signing is possible is it?

He wants a minimum 2/3 deal but don’t we have a policy of not giving any more than one year deals to players over 30?

posted on 17/6/20

It’s not strictly a policy. We signed Zlatan and extended Mata for two years.

posted on 17/6/20

Fair enough

I think Willian is likely to go to Spurs anyway

posted on 17/6/20

Doubt it, Arsenal is more likely.

sticky our most natural finisher on the wing when we struggle to score goals isnt the smartest idea, he should be played through the middle where he is at his most dangerous.

plus as said above, say we did wait for sancho, even then our wide options would be sancho, rashford and james... not ennough depth there.

bringing in another would not be a bad thing

Sancho would be looking to play every game possible. I don’t think a player as good as Bailey would want to play second fiddle to him.

And Greenwood has scored goals coming in off the right wing so not sure what the issue would be there.

just because he has scored a few coming in off the right doesnt mean thats where we would get the best out of him.

Greenwood’s best performances have come on the right. Playing him there isn’t causing him to stagnate.

No they havent, he was absolutely shocking against spurs at o/t when he started from the right

He played through the middle that game, James was on the right. All of Greenwood’s best performances, and most of his goals, have come when he starts on the right. And he’s been coming along nicely. Having him get game time through the middle and out wide is good for his development. He’s yet to be able to compete against premier league defenders as a cf, he’s better facing the goal and gets more opportunities to do this when coming in from the wing.

Even if he played 40 games a season, he’s always going to want to play the big games. I doubt Bailey would join us and be happy with playing the games that Sancho doesn’t.

ok.. we will keep Lingard and Andreas to play on the right for those other 20 games or for whenever sancho is injured

Or buy a player like Bailey who would expect to play as many games as Sancho would and one of them ends up disappointed.

im sure bailey would not expect to play as many games as Sancho.

theres a reason sancho is valued at about 80 million quid more, and thats because he is a better player.

He’s not even that good is he? Struggles to get in the Leverkusen team nowadays.
