I've seen them all since 73 (was alive for 64 and 66 but too young to remember) but never seen them win it at Anfield. Been on the season ticket waiting list since 1993 - only 17 thousand in front of me now!! Were you at WHL in 61 Sandy? I bet that was a good day.

I remember that 64 side, excellent team with Lawrence in goal, Lawler and Byrne I think full backs. Callaghan on the wing. St John up front.

Yes mate, I was at WHL on a Wednesday evening in 1961 as an 11 year old when Spurs beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, Bobby Smith scoring the winning goal, after Spurs came back from 1-0 down. I went to lots of the games that season.

I thought you were born in 1947 Sandy ?

Not trying to catch you out, simply curious

1948 mate. I was actually 12 when Spurs won the title, 16 when Liverpool won the title in 1964, 18 when England. I always thought I was 11.

15 when Liverpool when the title in 1964, 17 when England won the World Cup in 66. I am getting my age mixed up.

All joking apart, it is great when you see your team win the league, I was 11 when I saw Spurs win the league for the first time. Unfortunately it was the last time for me.

Make the most of it fellas, you never know if it will be the last.

truer words never spoken. i always likened my home team the montreal canadians to liverpool. both had the most championships in their respective sports.
when i was a kid in the 60's and 70's winning was boring. too easy it seemed.
now our last cup was in '93 and we are stuck on 24 cups since.
i know i don't have to tell liverpool fans to enjoy it as you might not win another for a while. ( although i think you will.)
good article sandy.
