Such a bizarre move in a professional capacity and financially, given the current state of Hearts, are we really saying they can blow United out the water with wages?

I worked with someone that commuted every day from the far side of Dundee to EK. Typically worked a 10 hour day anaw.

It has to be money mate. I honestly can't see any other reason for it.

I've no idea what we're paying him but when he came to us his stock wasn't very high. Now he's got us promoted his stock is a bit higher. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jambos have doubled his wages as they probably feel he's a sure thing for promotion and they can't afford two seasons (or more) down the leagues.

On Arabs4ever's point - I kinda agree. I think we probably would have still won the league but we were stumbling over the line - I think pre-shut down we had won 1 in 7 or something like that. Ultimately the difference between us and the rest wasn't his tactical nous, but the fact we had one of the best strikers in Scotland playing up front for us.

I'm still disappointed it's happened but I'm already looking forward rather than backwards. He's gone and as much as I've always quite like Hearts, they're now off my Christmas card list and I hope they stay down because the way they've behaved over the last week has been extremely poor.

I think his career after his first time as Hearts manager has shown that he's not an irreplaceable manager. I'm sure he'll do ok at Hearts as it looks like they will go with the spend way more than the rest tactic.

I wonder if Dundee Utd will go for Oran Kearney, some established Scottish Premier manager or someone unknown.

No idea what we'll do about a new manager. My initial feeling is we'll go for a younger coach but that's not based on anything other than my own gut feeling.

Tommy Wright is the favourite but he doesn't excite me (although I don't think he'd necessarily be a bad selection). A lot of United fans mentioning Robinson at Motherwell. A couple of left-field names were Duncan Ferguson and John Kennedy.

Given our American connections I wouldn't be surprised - although a bit concerned - if we went for someone from the States.

I think United might ask the question for John Kennedy like Hibs did but i think it'll take some amount of cash for Lawwell to part with him.

The more people you hear of that has worked with him now, can't sing his praises highly enough.

Damien Duff said Kennedy is the best coach he's ever worked with in playing and managing

He'll take over from Lennon when the time is right but if he goes out and manages for a season or 2 with a clause to come back then it might be beneficial to us.

Slightly off-topic but bit of a shocker Hibs closing their academy? Decent facilities too. I guess the SFA are getting their project Brave goal of less academies, after all?

a think this is a blessing for Dundee Utd, that was probably the poorest championship for years and they were stumbling over the line

watched a few games and the style of football wasn't the best

Was going to say they’ve had a conveyor belt of talent in recent years, but actually can’t think of many from the last decade, all the ones coming to mind (Fletchers, Brown, Roirden) are before that no?

And what about Aberdeen asking their players to take wage cuts then signing Johnny Hayes

Ah well, move on - he got us there but it wasn’t pretty. It’s a shame, because there was a wee spell where it looked like we could have won it playing exciting football (at that level) but that didn’t seem to be in the plan.

Big decision now, to go safe or to try our luck!

Is anyone on here on Ivan’s Christmas card list, or are we all in the bin with Hearts?

Wonder what the chances are of us getting Hearts in the cup...!

I really thought Hibs would close that as the last option to save money. Maybe they're in even more trouble than I realised.

I think as long as he's on less or the same as everyone else after their cuts then it's not that bad a decision.

Tell you something, i can't wait to we play Hearts in the Scottish cup semi, it'll be absolute poison

Anyway, i see England is expected to reduce social distancing to 1M by the middle of July, allowing football stadiums to open at 50% capacity.

Suspect we could be in a position to do the same for the start of the season.

The whole social distancing thing seems to have fallen apart anyway so hopefully it does go down to 1m.

No idea how they manage emptying the stadium though if we're still meant to keep 1m apart. Or kants shuffling along the row to get to the toilet

Suspect that'll fall into the category of not being next to each other for 15 minutes when exiting and if it's only 50% capacity, should take 5-10 mins to clear the full stadium.

Odsonne Edouard can clear a capacity crowd at ibrox in less than 4 mins apart from that shower in the corner.
