Imagine thinking you've "caught someone out" for wanting to directly affect an event that's been built off the backs of slaves.

Honestly.. what a pathetic sad act

Literally every single electronic device in circulation has Chinese components.

Again, wtf can I do about that?

That's just one tiny example.

Do enlighten me as to how sports stars can affect change in China?

They can literally bring this World Cup sham to its knees by not turning up.. something they can directly affect.

You're honestly lower than low attacking a just cause because I'm not trying to solve every world issue in a oner.

An absolute tossser.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every single one yeah? Come off it.

No i questioned you because you are virtue signalling, you're going after one country for an issue that exists everywhere. It exists here in your country.

I brought up the concentration camps in China because that is Muslims being victimised rather than in the case you brought up doing so and your attitude was different.

You think your pashing up the wall going after China but that you might be able to stop the World Cup in Qatar.

I said it last week.....im seeing a lot of this attitude that if we can't solve every problem we can't solve one.
We'll never get anywhere with that attitude.

Good luck mate. Even the Long Trek started with a single step.

Aye and barely anyone knows about it.

My dad used to be a dredge master in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Yemen and a couple other Middle Eastern cities and states.. early 80s-2000s.

He used to tell me about how a lot of the Indian Muslims were forced to break fast during the day during Ramadan as they were poorly catered for and would drop like flies through exhaustion without it.

I've known about this for years and I'm sure I wrote something on here a few years ago about Qatar.. I just see now as the perfect opportunity to really affect change with this event due to the current climate around human rights and past slavery etc

Great sentiment and I wish you well.

I’m not on any social media platform so can’t tweet or whatever the send any message other than on here.

What I will say is that all professional football now is based upon finance and vanity. Like any other business.

Interesting to note that football appears to be taking something approaching a drive to eradicate racism whereas very little other than protests appear to be happening elsewhere.

Racism is a societal affliction. It’s not a football one.

im not on the ol twitter either but the article suggests popping an email to FA's. possibly not worth contacting the scottish one though

Good luck on this Juke - it's a noble cause

I am fed up being told to stop fighting for BLM because of what other races have done

It’s difficult not to comment on what you’re doing without commenting on Fash taking issue with you about it.

You don’t think you can challenge one area just now, but hope you can influence another quickly. You’re asking people if they can to support this. You’re trying to raise awareness on an area that perhaps a lot of us don’t know that much about. Rebellions are built on hope, to quote from a film.

It says more about Fash than it does you. Best of luck, Juke.

posted on 24/6/20

Fash, I assume you're on the wind up? Anyone can post a 'what about' remark.

Juke was just trying to highlight something we may be able to influence. Haven't seen any of your solutions suggested as to how to deal with the other issues so just back off.

Good idea, Juke.

I believe that's around the fact we have some of the most progressive legislation in the world when it comes to equality.

Obviously that leaves aside the internal civil war going on in the SNP regarding trans rights.

I used to have a degree of respect for Joanne Cherry but she's lost it all with her stance on trans rights.

I understand both sides of the argument to be honest.

I see that south of the border they are seriously proposing putting people on trial without a jury in the Crown Court.

Scary times and further evidence that our democracy is crumbling before our very eyes. Imagine being in the 21st century and being denied that very fundamental and basic right

Couple that with zero culpability for anyone in office (or "advising" those in office).. and we get what is turning into an outright plutocracy.

The issue is massive in the middle east

while football stadiums are in focus there are skyscrapers shopping malls and just about everything else is build using slavery/low cost migrant labour.

Its big business for the 'agents' who provide such.

But then sport has a profile and to focus on this is certainly a good way to highlight and see what actions they take.

And just because others commit similar crimes is not a good reason to not go after this.

Trans rights are quite a difficult discussion as there is plenty of disagreement within trans groups and representatives

As do I, but one side of the argument is built on myths and mistruths.

Just ten minutes of googling that will prove that.

That still doesn't get away from the fact this proposed legislation has literally nothing to do with "shared spaces"

There's literally nothing stopping a pervy bloke from throwing on a wig and walking into a woman's toilet right now.

This legislation just removes some of the unnecessary hurdles that are currently required for trans people to have their identity/gender recognised.

really

Scotland have had this in place for a few decades.

I found this opinion piece on trans rights to be quite enlightening.

Their struggle to be recognised both in law and socially certainly has echoes of the gay rights movement decades ago.

Myths aplenty, scare mongering from all angles, demonisation of anything trans, being accused of mental illness and that they can be "cured"
