It was either racist or immensely ignorant. Either way, it just shows how much education is sorely needed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Still don't see which race it was demeaning. No other colour than white was mentioned and their was nothing saying white people are superior to any other race.So how is it racist?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When black people say black lives matter who do you think they are saying that to and why? Then think when white people say white lives matter as seemingly a response, who are they saying that to?
It’s either ignorance if they don’t understand the answer to the first question or it’s racist if they do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are saying it to any one who cares to listen, bit like those who did the white lives matter banner.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And that sums up exactly why I said education is sorely needed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They both could be saying it to those who don't want to listen, but that would be a futile effort wouldn't it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should it just be accepted instead then?
Black lives matter is what black people are asking, in fact pleading, white people to think and act like. It’s not even a big ask if you really think about it - for their lives to matter in other peoples eyes. They ultimately can’t change that themselves as it is something being done to them.
In that context, how can white lives matter be a response to it? White lives clearly already matter to white people, something which the people feeling oppressed will know more than anyone.
So who do they think they are directing it to and how can they possibly think it’s an appropriate response unless it’s based in either ignorance or antagonism?
You’ve already shown how it can be the former. Either way, it all leads back to education (and social and emotional intelligence being key parts of it)

I've not said it should be accepted.
I've said that BLM are saying it to those that care to listen, there are many that don't care to listen, now that doesn't make them racists,it probably is because they have so much happening in their lives that BLM isn't that important to them.
The World is in chaos ATM with many livelihoods in the balance, some are more interested in putting food on the table and having a roof over their heads.
The fact people don't understand the BLM movement and what it's trying to achieve is the reason it exists.
People saying "surely all lives matter" or more worryingly WLM is again why the BLM movement exists and should be supported.
Systematic and institutional racism has affected too many lives for too long. This country is no stranger to that even in recent times.
Is it better now that in the 80's? Sure, that doesn't mean it's how it should be. Bury your head in the sand all you like but the bare facts are that BAME groups still face massive discrimination and systematic racism in this country.
George Floyd and the movement in America is just the catylist for the movement here, people have had enough and I and others support that. #BLM

Dimothy, you do realise in the scenario AJ was talking about a few weeks back that white people were more than welcome to spend money in black owned shops?
I’m assuming that because you didn’t know that that maybe there’s other revelations you should take the time to discover and you might wake up at least 50% less ignorant tomorrow.

It obviously depends on the intent of the individual but as soon as I heard about the Burnley banner, I thought that ‘White Lives Matter’ in that context was racist.
No one would arrange for that to be flown moments after the players knelt in support of BLM, if they weren’t coming from a racial angle.
There’s no reason to say WLM or All Lives Matter because everyone knows.
BLM needs hype because, to some people, Black Lives don’t matter at all. Ashton Kutcher posted a video on IG when this all started that summed it up nicely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
while it would be nice, i think someone who genuinely despises people of a different race isnt going to suddenly change because some people shouted at them or got them sacked, they'd likely hate them more
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So? When racists can't get jobs and get sacked from jobs for being racist, that's a good thing, surely? Society shouldn't accept racists, just because they can't change their views.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
but what do you do with them? some people think half the population is racist
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Out them so they are punished, like losing their jobs or finding it difficult to get jobs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
economy collapses if half the voting population doesnt have jobs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You think half the population are racist? Wow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd say around 4% are racist

I'd say you're an idiot.

The blm movement would actually have more support if they had a point but we already have a free and tolerant society.
No one has ever explained what these protests hoped to achieve.
If anything it showed that its not just whites that are racist when you have anthony joshua telling ffolk not to suppport the white man and to boycott white businesses.
I certainly wont be watching one of his fights again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, will you write in to tell him or will you hope he notices that you haven’t been watching his fights?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well i bet he soon changes his tune when ot cones to payday.
Will he still refuse to accept the white man's money then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say it’s more fans of boxing that will pay the money.
Unless you’re saying only white men have money?

Either way, it all leads back to education (and social and emotional intelligence being key parts of it)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've not said it should be accepted.
I've said that BLM are saying it to those that care to listen, there are many that don't care to listen, now that doesn't make them racists,it probably is because they have so much happening in their lives that BLM isn't that important to them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd say you're an idiot.

There are laws to stop people being kneeled on to death. But it still happens. Please don’t be so naive that laws protect people against brutality and discrimination.

Metropolitan police found to be institutionally racist.

It’s important enough for some people to organise planes and banners...
The alternative as you say is apathy, which is ignorance, explicit or otherwise, so we go full circle.
