He reportedly mocked the Albion star by bragging about his wages - which actually turn out to be less than what Maupay earns at the Amex Stadium.

Oh blimey, the guy that has spent the last fack knows how long constantly moaning about the power Ozil has over the club, suddenly wants to give the exact same thing to a less talent.
He's been marked down as being a problem child at every club he's been at so far, but again, why let that cloud anyone's judgement? If he can't take a kick up the backside, then kick him out altogether.
At this moment in time £36m for Savdouzi looks about right. A bit of a gamble for all parties.
sakas not signing a new contract either is he?
'Some others could well follow suit after seeing how far the manager is willing to go, to stand by and yet again build around Ozil.'
Three matches in since lockdown, and Ozil is yet to step onto a pitch for Arsenal.
How EXACTLY are you planning to back this daft point up?

Yeah typical dumb kid trash talking. And since when has trash talking the opposition been a dropping from the team offence in football. Jeez half the league is at it come match day. It's the first thing you do to try and put your opponents off their game. I wouldn't even pull him on it let alone turn it into an incident he hands in a transfer request over.
Did Arteta go and take the Brighton players some tissues too? Just case they were crying after the savage bantz Guendouzi put them through.
He's an alright player. Bit of a Roy of the Rovers, which gets people excited. Yeah he's young, but look at what the likes of Fabregas, Rosicky and Nasri did at the same age. Last thing we need is to be wasting our time with a Balotelli. Remember when we sold Anelka and bought a Henry? Not that Guendouzi is close to what Le Sulk was producing.
Honestly, watching him neuter 4 counterattacks v City by refusing to pass forwards convinced me the game was lost long before Xhaka got injured.
Gwen has always come across as a bit of a little brother trying to impress his older influences, namely Auba and Laca. The balloons, the mucking about in training, all come across as someone trying too hard to be noticed.
He has a lot of talent, and should be one we try and develop into a key player. If Laca and Auba leave in the summer, and he stays, then maybe he can show a bit more maturity.
Has been a boo boy target, though, so suffers a lot of over the top criticism.

That could well be it. The thing with Auba is he has every appearance of being a tool, but is the complete opposite. It's easy to see how a kid can't see the ways in which Auba is professional.
I can't comment on his talent. I've got a real blindspot for judging players like him. I feel comfortable with players like Kamada or Griezmann (wanted us to sign him instead of Sanchez, not that there was much in it), but less so with players like Partey or Guendouzi.

In your eagerness to defend Ozil, you've missed the point again Lex.
If the manager wanted/wants to stamp his authority and lay down law, then it HAD to start with Ozil and his agent, the second he came through the door. But he didn't he bottled it and tolerated Ozil at first. That predictably blew up in his face quickly and out of nowhere he starts on AMN and Gwen. Almost insinuating that THEY are the team's big problem.
Nothing to do with whom he's giving power to right now and all about WHO he is choosing to wield his power against. Not the financial drain of a star killing every on the pitch performance he's part of through just not wanting to be there. No he chooses the super talented kids, who play their guts out for the team, have both saved it at times when Mr superstar CBA. Who both have good reason to be how they are right now. One is OWED by Arsenal and the other is a dumb kid.
Like I said the second Arteta piped up about them. Bullying those two as scapegoats after things got immediately worse when he foolishly trusted in Ozil.
WB2, have you ever considered that it is better to focus one's energies on what can be changed, and who can be improved. AMN has always had certain issues. This is a guy raised by a mother who had to be banned from the training ground. It seems likely that he'll have had some issues. If Arteta didn't care about him, he'd placate him and ship him out in summer. Being tough on him is giving him a chance.
Ditto Guendouzi. Arteta demands a level of professionalism, and is giving Guendouzi the opportunity to change. By making it an issue, it creates the chance to draw a line between the past and the present. But only if Guen is willing.
We have an issue with our culture. Better to go after the malleable kids than the entrenched adults. Then you can ship out those who are still a problem. Honestly, I did a similar thing in my workplace when I joined. It was horrendously misogynistic. The guys would harass the girls in ways that would have made heads roll in 1980's British offices. I was in no managerial position, but managed to instigate a culture change. I did so by identifying the smallest problems and going hard on those. Eventually, the worst guy of the lot imploded without his support network, having threatened to violently ape another colleague. Since then, with him gone, things have calmed down. Point is, change what can be changed.

Doing so may cost millions in resale value. He is also extremely popular with several players and isolating him is a dangerous game. One has to be seen to be fair with Özil. Emery wasn't, as he failed at PSG with superstars and was seen to take out those frustrations on an incredibly talented and important player to us. A player whom Wenger loved. I doubt you'll agree, but Özil has been wonderful for us at times and we don't exactly have a replacement for him.
Arteta is different. He played with Özil, worked under Pep and is a clear communicator. The way he is handling Özil is perfect, as he's not making it personal. There is theoretically nothing to stop Özil from performing in training and earning his place back.
The only reason that guy blew up was because he didn't feel as much support from his peers as before. Loony tunes style, he ran off a cliff without realising it. There was a general acceptance that things had gotten a bit extreme, and it only took a few new faces who didn't act that way. Soft power is important. If you move to alienate one individual, you might find yourself alienating a lot more.
There is also the fact that we just don't know what's going on with Özil. He was the victim of a mugging at the start of the season, and took a while to get his head right. He does a lot of charity work. He seems to suffer from chronic illnesses, perhaps in a similar way to Götze. None of us know the man, and we infer far too much from the way he kicks a football and what the Sun tells us. Maybe he just declined quite young, and has been struggling with that. People are allowed to be fallible. I wouldn't leave if I was being paid 350k a year, let alone per week.
Ya not far off tbh Lex
It's utter frustration that our fans are not behaving like football fans when it comes to Ozil. Any other PL club's fans would not have put up with Ozil as long as ours have. Regardless of his Twitter status. They'd have booed him out of their clubs years ago. For me, no Arsenal fan should be anything less than irate Ozil keeps appearing in a Gunners shirt. It literally bugs me that you're all so willing to accept it.
Run Wenger out after giving his all and us greatness. But sit and put up with a player like Ozil for years? Doesn't sit well at all really.
Fact is Arteta said from the get go he wants to change the culture at the club.
It is INCREDIBLY difficult to do so when you're having to rely on the same players that were there already - many of whom will have greatly contributed to the change that is needed!
So what can the manager do. Who can he turn to?
A few squad players he feels can be trusted to buy into his plans, plus some youth players - of which AMN and Guendouzi should still be considered.
Now if he finds that even some of the younger players aren't buying into his desired culture change, then why should he persist with them, when he's not prepared to do so with the older ones?
You're making literally zero sense here tbh.

The damage was done there in the games before lockdown. The fact Ozil featured in any, proved immediately that Arteta wasn't blaming him at all for the position the team was in when he arrived. His first targets to "Take issue with." were the little guys Lex. Because he didn't dare take on Ozil.
Get your focus off the post lockdown games because I'm talking about things that happened straight away as Arteta took over. Yes lockdown games no Ozil I know. Also know why, it ain't because Arteta told him about himself and dropped him from the team. So stop pretending it is.
So just to clarify (seriously, because you're really confusing me now) in your opinion is Ozil being dropped from the starting XI down to Arteta, or to the player not wanting to play?

Because you aren't appreciating that the moment Arteta even appeared as though he was going to put up with Ozil being Ozil. He lost the dressing room in terms of getting anyone to buy into anything he was about to do.
As far as anyone on that team will be concerned by now "If ya gonna accept Ozil's crap, then there's no point" will be the rough mentality of all of them. Because nobody wants to buy into a plan they know is going to fail. Especially when being asked to do it at their own expense. Sure they'll show up and they'll play but don't ask for any more from them whilst taking that from Ozil.
I'm sure that "You have to do what I say but Mesut can do what he wants" is not the new culture Arteta was aiming for. But it's damned sure what he said to AMN and Gwen by his actions early on.
Dude, I'm not Twitter yet even I know Gooners aren't putting up with Ozil anymore.

Now they are yeah. But people were advocating his return to the team at the start of this season. IMO why we got this bad. I still think that no Ozil this season at all and we'd be higher up the table. Putting him back into the side when we did, guaranteed this fate. Without him it might have been avoidable. Said so at the time and knew ai was right.
Not on Twitter either btw, just know it's a big part of Ozil's negotiating power.

Dude, I'm not Twitter yet even I know Gooners aren't putting up with Ozil anymore.
There will always be some that refuse to stop hoping he'll change, but most just want the soap opera to finish so that both parties can move on.

'Bullying those two as scapegoats after things got immediately worse when he foolishly trusted in Ozil.'
You're so far off point, it is amazing.
Okay, so tell me exactly how much trust has Arteta put in Ozil since football returned?
Seriously. I'm waiting for your answer... right here on the edge of my seat...
