You have one of the best young CB’s in the world. Any point in paying big money for Koulibaly?

I agree. I want Gomes to be VVD’s first choice partner. We definitely need a back-up CB though and I don’t think Koulibaly would be bought to sit on the bench.

It’s called competition. In 2 years we have won every major trophy on offer. If Koulibaly comes in and makes Gomez and VVD improve another 5-10% then I’ll be well chuffed. Similarly he will know he needs to up his own game to take one of the 2 starting places.

Nice idea but it won’t happen. Too old, too expensive and not the right age profile.

I think he will end up at City which would be very annoying for us as he would improve their defence massively.

That’s fair enough but wouldn’t you think it would have been smarter to sign Werner than a CB shoving 30.

I know the front 3 rarely get injured but if anything did happen you don’t really have anyone to step in.

Nothing story. Klopp won’t buy a player just to stop anyone else getting him.

Gomes is already proving himself at the highest level and will only get better.

If another team gets Koulibaly day for arguments sake Chelsea. They’d be more likely to take points off city.

If we weren’t going to spend on Werner, there’s no chance we will spend on Koulibaly.

Rubbish deal. For a 30 year old at that price.

Too old?
He's 8 days older than KDB, and I'm pretty certain nobody would be giving that shout if he came on the market to be honest.

I think Liverpool’s aim should be a versatile attackers and quality back up for both full backs

Liverpool are in a strange situation really. They function so well as a team when their first XI are playing that it's hard to see how they can improve without changing things about a bit.

From an outsider looking in I'd say it's in midfield (a creative player for when teams drop even further back against you) and cover at full back would be the priority. Perhaps you could buy a new right back and move TAA into a right midfield berth? An attacking player could also come in but they'll have their work cut out forcing your front three out of the team.

It's a nice problem to have of course but it'll be interesting to see how Klopp plays it next season.

Defo need cover for robertson. Been very fortunate up till now hes never had a sustained period out the team and theres only so long you can rely on an aging milner in that position as cover. I get your point on trent moving into midfield, its been mooted by a few but for me if it aint broke dont fix it. He brings so much from right back I think he has to remain there.

Defo need another option up top as cover for the front 3. Origi will be a cult hero for years to come but for where we are now hes not good enough. Lallanas going and id expect shaq to go to so we need something. Werner wouldve been perfect for me but we passed. Hopefully we pull something out the bag.

Klopp has got nearly every one of his recent transfers right. It'll be interesting to see if that continues as now it's a case of strengthening the squad and that could be a harder sell for some players. Plenty of players will want to play for Liverpool of course but getting in the right players is sometimes more difficult when you have such a settled XI. Jose found this difficult for Chelsea in 2006 and some of his signings (Shevchenko and Ballack) unsettled them a bit.

Larouci is still a totally unknown entity. Hes played even less than williams has. If robertson were out injured for say 2 or 3 months can you honestly say from what you've seen of larouci that you'd feel comfortable. Given how vital the full backs are to our style of play?

Im not knocking the lad. Hes a young kid who will hopefully only improve but if we are trying to retain a title and have a go at the champions league again then we need another option there.

Yeah his success rate in the transfer market has been phenomenal. I think the one thing we do have on our side is that this squad is at an overall age where of we can keep it together it should be really competitive and successful for at least another 2 or 3 years. Just 1 or 2 little tweaks are required.

Mate if you feel comfortable with larouci as back up thats no issue with me, not going to argue you with you over it. Your entitled to your opinion, im entitled to mine. Id rather someone was brought in. Lets see what the club do.

Mellor. My Liverpool supporting mate strongly feels Klopp will sell one of Mane, Salah or Firmino in summer to cash in on them. He's usually quite accurate with his predictions but can't it myself. He's insistent you'll cash in though.

posted on 28/6/20

Id be very surprised at that. They all appear to be very happy and settled and dont get me wrong I know theres always the lure of madrid and barca but why wpuld anyone leave just now with the club as it is.

That being said you can never say never. Difference this time round is if one did leave, itd be for a huge fee and we would have our pick for a replacement as im not sure anyone would turn down the chance to play for us right now. Very different to the suarez one.

Terrible deal. Talking about "the best CB in the world" and trading him for Koulibaly? Are you out of your minds

I'd keep Lovren around for dressing room morale alone. I'm sure even his teammates are laughing at that little gem to this day.

I just can’t see who buys any of three.

Firmino is a very good player who suits Liverpool’s system but can’t see anyone breaking the bank for him.

The other two are World class but again who buys them for what they would cost?

I don’t think it would be the worst idea in the world to go after Nathan Ake from Bournemouth. With them being at risk of getting relegated, he won’t want to play in the championship, even tho he seems quite loyal to them. Definitely time for Lovren to go now. He’s had good and bad games and he is experienced but he’s always got a mistake in him somewhere. Also Ake could cover lb if needed.

We’ve been linked with Lewis from Norwich in the past aswell. Still quite young and wouldn’t mind being 2nd choice, learning from Robbo. Again Norwich look like getting relegated, and we’ve not done too badly before, with Robertson, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri etc.

I don’t know how much money we have to spend or if Klopp even thinks we need reinforcements, but Cb, Lb and a quality front 3 backup is IMO and other people too where need to strengthen. Difficult though with the pandemic.

If any of the front three leave. We will get Mbappe.
