Looks like it. Could be really messy if Wednesday and Derby get deductions too.

Hadn't heard news on those two. Related to that
more-than-dodgy sale of their grounds to ... themselves? Hope Villa get relegated and have that reckoning also.

I wonder who Wigan play next?

They got taken over 28 days ago.

The EFL should be ashamed of themselves

Didn't realise that. It's not as if they didn't know about covid then.

The possibility of admin must've been discussed
between previous owner, new owner, and league,
surely?

This is scandalous.
Absolute disgrace

Sol

It’s all abit dodgy, They got taken over on 4th of June.

Not sure if the old owners are involved

I feel really sorry for them to be honest!

'Fit and Proper' test should be first applied to the shower at the FA, PL and EFL. - They would all fail miserably.

Pretty sure they will not be the only ones, league was unsustainable before this, lots of teams hovering on the brink, Bury going under was an indicator of how difficult it was out there even before Covid.
92+ professional clubs, ridiculous. Whilst I would never want my team to go out of business and sympathise with the fans of teams who do, the whole league structure needs looking at.

Totally agree Els, utter shame.

I feel for the Wigan fans who like to support their home town.

have a little soft spot fpor Wigan, it has to be said

A lot of teams that made it to the Prem and
then got relegated, seem to be suffering our
fate these days. Massively unsustainable.

Sad.

5 article though.

The gulf between the 'haves' I.e PL top 6 and the rest is ridiculous - millions spent just to try and avoid falling through the trap door and large contracts to honour if they do slip up and haven't got relegation clauses.

The only club I can remember recently who have managed to toggle on a frequent basis between PL and CL are WBA - not sure if their business model is still sane?

Will be interesting to see how Bournemouth cope if they come down - what's their average wage cost?

Must admit- don't know why , but I felt sad when I saw it on the Beeb news.

New TV money is making clubs think they're in endless supply. When clubs like Palace are demanding £80m for Zaha you know things are in a bubble waiting to burst

If Wigan's gone under, how does that affect the league positions?

Apparently there's a Parry video saying this may be something to do with Wigan owners caught up in a betting scandal.

This is the video, who knows if it's real.
