He says getting 2 viruses on your skin is good, getting 1000 of them in your eye, bad. So I challenge that cos we all know virus multiply rapidly, right? Yes, but turns out the immunity process can develop more effectively if it is slow rather than being overwhelmed.
---
Viral load?

Heh. Load.

One of the Bill Bryson books: maybe A Short History of Nearly Everything, goes into some gruesome details about viruses and their early researchers. Medical folk having lepers spit into their own mouths to note the findings, or rubbing contaminated waste products from other patients into their own skin just to see how they could best be treated. That kind of heroic madness.

A challenging vvank, but it's manageable.

Surely you can't directly compare smallpox to this Corona virus?

Pretty because they are two completely different viruses; in size, composition, how they attack and infect cells, and the body's ability to fight they off.

Wouldn't it be like suggesting a rugby team to set up their defence strategy based on American football? Both games share similarities in ball shape, share similar goals (get the ball over a line), and come from the same origins. The same can be said for two completely separate viruses?

No, and I didn't! I was discussing certain aspects of the transmission, immunity and treatment of old. Both highly virulent right enough.

Not sure what point Juke is trying to score here, other than some knowledge of virus although I would have thought that to have that then reading and comprehending an OP would not be such a difficult task

I'm not trying to score any points.. just saying that each virus is vastly different and the way the body reacts to them is therefore going to be different.

Mutation of the virus is probably a bigger concern

From what I've read the mutations so far do not affect the way the vaccines being developed will fight it so all good?
