RVN's impact was big from the word go.

Too early to see how Bruno will go, but so far so great!

I wondered about his consistency, but ji who has some sporting fan mates says he was very consistent at Sporting, which bodes very well.

Maybe we got a BOGOF when we signed him. We bought Bruno and that enabled us to start getting the value out of Pogba too. I think we're seeing that Pogba is a player who thrives in a team that's doing well. He's not a player to carry a team though. I think he loses heart. So, signing Bruno has given us Bruno and the Pogba we've been crying out for.

Fair. Though some of it comes from using Pogba properly and not trying to make him the main man.

That said, bruno and Pogba vs good pressing teams hasn’t been tested, and may not work well at all. We’ve only played an off colour defensive spurs and poor teams so far.

Yeeeeesh. We get it. You’re into him.

Yeah he’s been great, BUT, it is still early days. Let’s see that consistency over 12/18 months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

his partnership with Pogba is being branded as the world's best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't see anything wrong with that.

The real question now is where they stand in all-time list of greatest PL midfield pairings. Top 3? 5?

We really need Rosso to come out of his shell and talk a bit about Portugal and their football there.

Are you sure? Maybe he spent a week on holiday there downing port, eating cheese and playing golf?

I think big Shaka articulated Bruno & Pogba well.

Bruno makes the players around him good
Pogba makes good players, great

Hopefully we now start to see the best of Pogba also but let’s not get carried away.

I did do an article saying he could be another Cantona, it's not just results it's the impact on morale and attitude, we expect to win now, instead of hope.

Van Persie is a strange one. You're right, he absolutely deserves to be in any discussion about United signings who've had the greatest impact and he was the catalyst for that 2012-13 title win. As strange as it may seem now, however, we looked pretty good going forward in 2011-12 with Rooney and Welbeck up front and lost the title on GD largely due to carelessness against Wigan and Everton. In the summer of 2012, I'm not sure a new striker would have been my main priority, whereas Bruno really has added things we'd obviously been missing. It was as much about the statement with Van Persie - buying from one top team and stopping City themselves having him.

Bruno has been our best signing since RVP.

Don’t forget just how good RVP was for us that season. Scored so many crucial goals. No chance we won number 20 without him.

That free-kick at the Etihad summed it up for me. Against the team he might have joined, we'd surrendered a two-goal lead and he stepped up and produced that (I now it deflected). As I remember, the win took us six points clear of City in December and I didn't really doubt we'd win the league after that. The hat-trick to clinch the title was the icing on the cake.

I'd argue that Cantona is second only to Ferguson in putting down the foundations of the success we had from the 90s onward. In purely footballing terms obviously, we obviously relied on quality throughout the team and I'm sure Fergie would have won the title eventually without Cantona. But Cantona was the jigsaw piece that brought the swagger and confidence to a slightly brittle side. He was the one who gave a fairytale dimension to that side, a personality. He cemented the culture change.

I still remember the day we won the title in 99, against Spurs. When the whistle blew, I wasn't thinking about the two upcoming finals that could lead to a treble; I was thinking "We've won the league without Cantona!" We hadn't managed to do it previously under Ferguson and he'd seemed pivotal to domestic success.

posted on 2/7/20

Clockwork, I can relate to that.

From what I've read, Cantona had a huge impact on the development and mentality of the Fledglings. They took their cues from him in terms of determination on the pitch and understanding how dedicated you had to be in training. So in some ways Cantona made a huge contribution to the success of the next great United side.

Bruno is the perfect attacking mid for Mourinho. He flogged Mata because he wasn’t a workhorse in favour of Oscar. Bruno’s what Oscar would have been if he had Mata’s football ability.

Prime Mourinho would've got him before us in my opinion ( When he was Chelsea manager in 2004 ).
