Hasn’t needed to really tbh, I’d argue Zinchenko, particularly playing him at left back, could fall into that bracket.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, there's no real need and so it's a bit of an empty criticism.
But I'd like to think that proper football people would always want to do that.
Zinchenko was an International when he joined and hasn't even really nailed down a place in the team, so that would be a bit generous.

One thing Pep definitely has over Klopp is sustaining a period of success over several seasons.
He had 4 consecutive good years at Barca, 3 straight at Bayern and now at least 2 in a row at City (maybe 3 depending on how this season goes).
Klopp has only ever managed 2-consecutive good seasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Time will tell but yeah Pep has done it for quite a while now.

His time at Bayern isn’t viewed as a wonderful success In Germany. The league title is the minimum expected at Bayern, he was brought there to win the CL. Little did they know Heynckes would win it in his last season there and Pep wouldn’t manage it.

I think that Klopp would do better when tested scientifically ie. at managing 3 different club types - low league, mid table and a top team. Overall I think Klopp would do better.
The main reason being that Pep hasn’t ever managed a lower team than top.
The team he took over st Barcelona was hardly naff: it had Puyol, Valdes, Xavi, Iniesta, Toure, eto’o, Ronaldinho & Messi. Liverpool has good players too Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge, Sterling but let’s not make out that they’re similar.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And where did that team finished the year before Pep took over?
For those calling Pep a chequebook manager, how many big name signings did he make during his first year at Barcelona?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Aye just a cool €35m for a fullback in 2008, surprised he won a thing with such little backing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So just one FB signing and yet he went on to win 6 trophies that season.
How many managers do you think can achieve that kind of result - both past and present?

they competed against each other as managers 11 times. each time, Pep has managed a club with far superior financial resources, and has started his tenure at each club with a squad of players, which on paper, is also far superior to those klopps in that same season.

No I do remember him managing the second team yes what he and Tito accomplished was very good. I don’t doubt his ability to manage a lower team like a Celta Vigo for example and do well with it. But he hasn’t proven this to the level of top league (ie. top opponents) but with a clearly weaker team (like Celta now for example).
He’s unbelievably excellent, no doubt. But for me, he has that missing and I’d also say that winning the CL twice is not exactly averageπ but I’d expect more maybe even just one more, given the teams that he’s managed since 2008.

Either that or paper scissors and rock
I think both managers improve players they work with and that many players want to work under them.
Look at what Pep has done with Sterling for example, and for me what Klopp has done with Gini is outstanding, took a number 10 from relegated newcastle and turned him into a top midfield player.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Real had been dominating the 2 years prior to Pep’s ascension to Head Coach.
One of his first moves was selling Ronaldinho. He brought pique into the XI and gave new life to Henry & Eto’o (the Henry-Eto’o-Messi attack scored 100 goals in 08/09).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes because he’s an excellent manager. But he has one question mark and that is whether he can do it at a club that isn’t a top level club.
For example SAF with Aberdeen. If he hadn’t done that, he’d still be a top top manager but the same question couple have been asked of him. Luckily for SAF he did that’s why he’s the GOAT πππ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, he did manage Barca B team where he got them promoted from the 3rd tier. He also got them playing an exciting type of football
It's the reason he was given the Barca job.
But maybe many of you don't knpow this I guess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I do remember him managing the second team yes what he and Tito accomplished was very good. I don’t doubt his ability to manage a lower team like a Celta Vigo for example and do well with it. But he hasn’t proven this to the level of top league (ie. top opponents) but with a clearly weaker team (like Celta now for example).
He’s unbelievably excellent, no doubt. But for me, he has that missing and I’d also say that winning the CL twice is not exactly averageπ but I’d expect more maybe even just one more, given the teams that he’s managed since 2008.

only sensible way to judge the two of them is against each other.
they competed against each other as managers 11 times. each time, Pep has managed a club with far superior financial resources, and has started his tenure at each club with a squad of players, which on paper, is also far superior to those klopps in that same season.
and yet head to head, pep as won 3, klopp 8.
that says all you need to know about which of them is best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rangnick is better than both of them clearly
They’ve gone head to head 18 times btw. It’s still Klopp in front but it’s 9 to 7.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
His time at Bayern isn’t viewed as a wonderful success In Germany. The league title is the minimum expected at Bayern, he was brought there to win the CL. Little did they know Heynckes would win it in his last season there and Pep wouldn’t manage it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And how many CLs did Bayern win before or after Pep? Were they not already planning to replace Heyckes before he won the CL that season?
Some posters think winning the CL is a given.
Mourinho managed Chelsea, United and Real Madrid but failed to win the CL with any of these 3 big clubs. I guess that makes him a failure then.
Klopp won the CL despite losing all their away game at the group stages.
Cup competitions should not be used to judge any manager in my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not cup competitions alone, I agree but if one manager has x and y and the other only has x then surely manager 1 has done better, no?

I think both managers improve players they work with and that many players want to work under them.
Look at what Pep has done with Sterling for example, and for me what Klopp has done with Gini is outstanding, took a number 10 from relegated newcastle and turned him into a top midfield player.
