I didn't think it was relevant to what we were talking about at the time. If you go back to your comment that I replied to with that, it was that he couldn't take someone untested and get them playing in the first team quickly. He did, he got Zinchecko playing in a completely different position and used him all season in a very successful season for us.

Even this season, he played seven out of the first nine until he then had knee surgery and was out for two months.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Used him all season?

Well that's just not true, is it.

He played 14 times in the league.

He played in 29 games last season in all competitions.

Would you consider that a low amount?

I'd consider someone who played 14 times in the league as not a first team regular.

And let's not forget, he's playing because your big left back signing was injured.

Still clinging onto that bit of Lingard form from 2 years ago Rosso?

Tbf I defended him myself. Klopp changed the shape second have and it mitigated it a bit. To a man we were pretty poor after 20 mins though and I suspect Sterling thoroughly enjoyed mugging off Gomez.

Gave up that ghost a long time ago Robbing, although he’s still a much better player than people give him credit for being, particularly some United fans.

I remember being on the Spurs board probably about 24 months or so ago defending Sissoko against Spurs fans who just wanted him shot (I don’t know how the fack I get into these things sometimes ).

Funnily enough, he then went on to become arguably their most important midfield player for a good spell. It’s funny how fans can turn on their own players to the extent that they can no longer see any value in their games.

I had PSG down to win the CL all season but now I’m leaning towards City. PSG won’t be match sharp.

It’s a fair point about Zinchenko playing more because of injury to Mendy.

I didn’t ask whether you considered Zinchenko a first team regular. I ask you what you would consider to be a low amount of games.

Why though?

The discussion wasn't about that.

I haven't really thought about it to be honest.

You said he’d played in a low amount of games.

Is 14 league games or 29 in all competitions in a season a low amount of league games?

On a slightly different note, does a player have to be a first team regular in order to be considered a player who has been developed by a manager?

You don’t consider Zinchenko in the same way you consider Robertson. I would agree that Robertson is more integral to Liverpool than Zinchenko is to City. But you do seem to be dismissing the validity of saying that Zinchenko has been a player who has developed under Pep.

That should say “29 in all competitions in a season a low amount of games”!!

City restored some pride last night but, more importantly, their fans seized from Liverpool the right to take on Winston on ja606

I said he's played a low number of games this year.

Not sure why you're labouring that point. It's semantics. Perhaps focus on the actual point being made.

I am dismissing any credit being afforded to Pep for his development of Zinchenko, relative to the credit we're giving Klopp for his development of TAA, Gomez and Robertson, yes.

I think that's perfectly reasonable.

So you do think 14 league games is a low amount?

I disagree.

Your last point, If the criteria is simply based as comparison to Klopp (which is the whole point of this thread), then yeah, in that context it is reasonable.

With all due respect, I couldn't care less whether you agree - it isn't remotely important to the point I'm making.

If ultimately you agree then that's that because yes, the context is whether Pep can be given credit for developing young players in the way that Klopp is - and I think it's fairly clear cut that he can't.

posted on 3/7/20

It isn’t clear cut at all.

posted on 3/7/20

Okay then.

Let's give Pep credit for developing young players in the way that Klopp has done with TAA and Robertson.

We don't have any actual examples of players anywhere near their levels of development playing for City, but we'll say it's debatable anyway. Just for sheites and giggles.

Ok, I’m going to leave it there, because you’re now just getting antagonistic. Can’t be bothers with you when you slip into that mode.

Maybe you should look at your own posts to see why that has happened.

Or just blame me. That'd be easier.
