All 3 goals we have conceded since the restart have been in added time, this psychologically works both ways, we almost expect to concede, whilst the opposition will think they have a great chance. Sabri should not have to explain this to the players, if they can’t figure it out for themselves, they shouldn’t be playing. Simple ‘basics’.

Samba had little to do today but as a keeper you must at least be-able to jump, Samba didn’t even get off the ground, extremely poor keeping.

The amount of injury time goals conceded this Has cost us automatic promotion

If we don’t go up via the playoffs, I fear there will be some tough questioned asked of the manager and the team
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the questions should be why he insists on playing such boring negative football

posted on 4/7/20

More positives than negatives from today's performance.
Showed discipline in sticking to the game plan.
da Costa looking more of an asset every time he plays.
Sow looked in good shape.
Prevented an untelligent opposition from creating any chances. Pump it into the box then scramble.
Technically superior.
Created four good chances.

The only negative was that we conceded to one of the least creative teams in the division. (Admitted their most creative player was out).

Some of their youngsters looked OK and should benefit from Rooney's experience, but they need to be playing with better players to develop.

A point against the 1 nil specialists will do nicely.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have played 41 games and won 8 1- 0

Does that mean we a specialist? Honestly have no idea 🤣

No. Winning against Derby is routine, so no need to do that.

Routine means a sequence of events regularly followed. You didn't win today.

Don't worry, when you wake tomorrow, you can look back on your comments and cringe

Almost a perfect away performance. Should have had at least two more goals second half but Grabban had left his shooting boots at home, Silva hit the post, and Mighten slipped as he chipped the keeper.

Inevitably it came back to bite us in the 97th minute, with Derby resigned to defeat and down to ten after an awful challenge by Waghorn on the wounded warrior Yates.

What was Worrall thinking? And why did Samba not deal with the free kick lumped in? (Looked like he was pushed, but he had to be stronger).

So, bitterly disappointing, but a draw at Derby is a good result given their recent form. Just such poor reward for a dominant display.

I wasn’t hugely confident of a win yesterday, but after watching them today, I’d be more than happy to meet them in the play-offs.

Other than Rooney in his QB (his legs have gone) role, then Derby looked poor. I think the most impressive thing (other than Rooney’s passing) was just how ugly Sibley is! He looks like a 1800s Street urchin.

Disappointed to come away with a draw, Derby were there for the taking. On another day Grabban bags both of those and / or Silva’s goes in off the post. We could have easily been 4-0 up.

Derby were missing a few, we had a few coming back to full fitness. Definitely a draw wasn’t a fair result though!

Makes you think who you’d trade player for player. Rooney for Watson maybe? Not only individually better, but we’re the better team.

Genuinely surprised by how much better we were.

I wouldn't trade Rooney for anyone in our team. I've always considered him over-rated.; the great white hope, the darling of the tabloids. He's a good player, without a doubt, but don't ever put the label "world class" on him, he never was or never will be.

posted on 5/7/20

Rooney in his prime was an unbelievable player and possibly the best England has ever produced. He certainly stood out for Derby with his quality but he’s past his best and didn’t have an influence on the game.

Always interesting to read other fans’ takes on the game? Can a team be “dominant” with 30% possession? Forest are incredibly well-organised but I didn’t see much skill or invention. Coaches talk about “executing the game plan” rather than “playing well” these days. I can appreciate the effort and concentration involved in a containing style but most fans prefer their teams to play a bit more expansively.

Of course a team can dominate with 30% possession. There is plenty of skill in defensively dominating a team like that. When we had Warburton as coach we used to have majority possession and we’re criticised by your fans for playing boring football. Now we sit back and defend and that’s criticised too. Derby’s possession tactics weren’t exactly exciting we’re they? Counter attacking football can be exciting and Grabban’s first bad miss was an exciting move. I do worry that we aren’t attacking enough sometimes against the weaker sides but when we’ve played sides in the top 7/8 we have done really well and generally won or drawn. It bodes well for the play offs.

He jumped in before the equaliser, View. I wouldn’t have done that because another routine win was happening at that moment.

I quite liked Warburton’s style as it happens, I agree Forest have a decent chance in the play-offs if you can frustrate teams as easily as you did yesterday. We are lacking in forward creativity at the best of times, and with Lawrence absent and Holmes badly out of form maybe there was a predictability to the way it planned out.

I agree counter-attacking football CAN be exciting at times. If both teams attempt it then it becomes like a boxing match where nobody dare throw a punch. Possession football isn’t exciting either if it doesn’t go anywhere as you say.

It was interesting to see Rowett comprehensively beat Forest at their own game just before lockdown but in the play-offs the other teams will be those who want to get the ball and keep it. Fulham and Brentford have more individual quality in forward areas so would be harder to keep quiet if you end up with one of them.

We’ve done very well since Christmas but still a work in progress whereas Forest’s players all look in tune with the overall plan. With so much to contend with on and off the field this season we have over-achieved and if I’m honest I would say that Forest have done the same to reach play-offs based on what I’ve seen. It’s a cliche to say each season that the level of quality in the Championship is low but I think it’s especially true this season, and when nearly all of the teams are much of a muchness in terms of quality then organisation and adherence to the plan can be a major factor.

I liked Warburton until it was clear we weren’t going to go anywhere! I think you’re right that the league is pretty weak this year. Leeds and Baggies hardly blowing others away. Brentford have the best forwards in the league but somehow we’ve kept them quite this season. And I think Mitrovic will be missing on Tues thankfully

Come off it. What have you been smoking? The best England has ever produced? I could name ten better English strikers who I have seen play at the City Ground. He wouldn’t come anywhere near Man United’s best eleven. He was a very good player but has been on the down curve since 2004.

On the down curve since the age of 18? That’s harsh!

Any opinion is bound to be tainted by bias but long before he signed for Derby I thought he was the best English player I have seen in the fifty years I have been watching the game. Although I saw Bobby Charlton I was too young to form any opinion and he was at the end of his career. Gazza was an amazing talent but as an overall package I would have Rooney as a much better player. Shearer was a better centre forward in the traditional sense and Lineker a slicker finished but neither were in the same class as Rooney when it comes to skill. Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard all great players but Rooney is above them. He’s a distance below the level of the absolute greats of world football like Zidane, Maradona, Ronaldo, Messi and many others but that’s a reflection on English football rather than Rooney. He’s nowhere near the force that he once was, but then neither is Bob Dylan and he has just produced a magnificent album at the age of 79.

I'd put Gazza, Lineker and Shearer all above Rooney. First saw Charlton when he was an orthodox left winger but in the number 9 shirt a wonderful player to watch. But it's all about opinions and yours are just as valid as mine.

One thing we can agree on is "Rough and Rowdy Ways" - I've listened to it everyday since it was released.
