In other news..

Kanye West has long teased the possibility of running for US President, but in a new tweet, the rapper finally made the announcement: he’s running in the 2020 election.

Posted on Independence Day in the US (July 4), West said, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States!” along with the hashtag #2020VISION.

If you ain't seen the movie 'Idiocracy', give it a whirl.

Of course then someone else will have to pick up the bill while they go back to trying to get independence.

And there you have the 'money shot'.

Pubs are not the first public place I would allow people to go back to. Alcohol consumption tends to remove people's good judgement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then you would run the very real risk of destroying a huge sector of the economy and supporting many more hundreds of thousands of lives.

I’m not sure many really have a grip of the carnage that is yet to unfold in already planned redundancies and business closures. Every single day will add to the cost.

It’s reported that at least a third didn’t open yesterday as it isn’t financially viable as it stands now. What do you think will happen there?

This is what I don't get - the 'nothing to see here' attitude when we have nowhere near peaked on unemployment - absolutely not even near it.

FFS - if you get Covid you are unlikely to die if you are in a specific data set. It is abundantly clear.

It really does astound me that people are so oblivious to the economic carnage which is yet to peak.

I'm sure clever people could set up systems that were both workable and safe, unfortunately idiots will be idiots and you get the scenes from Soho last night.

I understand we have to save the econony and keep people safe, but having alcohol and idiots in the mix doesn't make for an easy remedy.

Do you remember the 'BLM' protests in London the other week?

Guess what - London figures actually decreased.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is Zico and thankfully infection numbers are decreasing (albeit too slowly for many people’s liking) whilst testing continues to significantly increase. That trend isn’t the whole story but is is encouraging.

I think everyone knows there is still risk and yes it could spiral to a point where we have to revert any progress.

For the first time Sturgeon gave it a passing comment but listening to a serious debate with Scottish industry leaders the resounding position adopted by them was that she has taken control and made her decisions clear to ensure Scotland drives down infection rates and resulting deaths and illnesses very effectively.

What is happening now however is that she flatly refuses to engage with any of them as to how they can safely manage a way to improve things; she ignores requests for discussion; she is blindly following a simplistic track of continually trying to thwart anything coming from Westminster; refuses to discuss it further unless they either wait for her or follow her lead, only to then realising that she has to follow suit and perform a U turn but to try and dress that up as “being more cautious”.

Whilst it appeals to families and individuals throughout the land she is not preparing them for the damage being caused in the background and indeed doesn’t even contemplate it. Scotland has a far higher proportion of public sector and low paid jobs so maybe she feels that they might be secure. What she isn’t paying attention to is the the Civil Service and all its many hundreds of thousands of employees are about to go through swingeing cuts. She isn’t acknowledging that jobs are being lost to England now, never mind in a few months time.

Meanwhile the CEO of Edinburgh airport is essentially saying they’ve lost the summer holidays and as a result many more hundreds of jobs will move south and that they have now started the consultation process as of Friday. His main concern is that Edinburgh and Aberdeen might shut for good.

The hospitality sector fear worse. And then there are all the dependent businesses on that.

It’s a very gloomy picture everywhere but even more so up North.

It’s a move designed to try and save huge numbers of jobs in the economy and trying to give the public a sense of more freedom and responsibility.

It does however involve risk. I have no doubt in my mind that infection rates will increase bits to what level is the key question and how we might be better prepared in a few weeks/months time.

But we have to try b

And here is where I get angry about it. Scotland through Sturgeon doesn’t want to. That’s fine. That is devolution at work.

But don’t sit back and whine, bleat and criticise at every opportunity with fwck all superior knowledge pretending you know better. She simply doesn’t. So in that sense she has no option but to sit back and wait and see.

And there is the crux. She has done exactly that and then followed suit. So the nett effect is that she has let others take the calculated risk and then U turned. Meanwhile she has destroyed the economy of the country that big bit more.

But it’s not being acknowledged by the people. For the simple reason the carnage hasn’t hit yet. It will.

Right that’s me.

==========

First BLM protests in London were 20th June apparently, is that really 'well over' 14 days?

So if you ain't got it within two weeks you're laughing, is that it? Good stuff.

There are second wave lockdowns all over Europe.
Leicester is in lockdown along with other places.
Yet we have crowds of drunks all over England last night.

But 'wee Nic' keeping the pubs shut is bad.

And the people concerned about this are 'snowflakes'

You should go back to the pub today to celebrate.
