If we don't buy back up for Bruno then I'd prefer him to stay. I'd play him before Lingard/ Pereira in the 10 role.

Agreed. I do reckon we will get an attacking midfielder this summer. If anything long term did happen Bruno no one in the squad is good enough to cover unless Pogba is pushed forward which Ole doesn’t seem to like.

He’s not exactly a key player for us and is past his best but still a better player than Lingard and Pereira. I’d rather see them go and let Juan stay for one more year.

All three of them need to go.

Replace them with a right winger and another attacking mid and that's plenty of depth in the forward positions.

glad to see him go to be honest.

on a fairly big wage and he frustrates the hell out of me watching him.

total opposite to Fernandes whos first thought is to get the ball on the turn.

if you watch Mata, the majority of the time when he receives the ball he comes back on him himself which gives the opposition the chance to get back in position.

Ya he’s never really been what we’d hoped for since day one.

Watching Bruno now he’s everything you want in a number 10/attacking midfielder.

Mata has had a good career and is very naturally gifted but never had to legs or physique to be a truly top player.

Wonderful person and I'd imagine great to have around the club, but in reality if he still has designs on playing top level football then he'd be best to move on and from a wages perspective, it makes sense for United.

Wish him all the best though - a true gent of the game.

Can see Pereira staying maybe one more year now. He’s not been good at least he’s the youngest of the three.

Those of you who think we should keep him. Morons.

Love the guy but he isn’t good enough anymore.

Why not bring in someone who is actually quality. Grealish is just another grossly over rated English player.

He hasn’t been great since the return but only KDB has created more chances this season.

He'd peaked at Chelsea but was still fairly productive for us in his first couple of seasons. But he simply isn't anywhere near as effective anymore and isn't going to get any better.

Hopefully he moves on and like everyone else, I wish him well. Clearly a very decent bloke.

I’ll be sad to see him go. He’s an underrated player, and clearly massively important in the dressing room and on the training ground.

Hopefully, if he does leave we’ll see him back in a coaching or ambassadorial role in the not too different future. I think there’s potentially a superb manager in there.

There are a few players we need to ship out.
Mata, love him but he is past his best.
Lingard, Pereira, and Jones are well talked about.
Sanchez and Rojo need to go as they have no place in this side.
Smalling, a bit more difficult as some think he can still offer something, or he's the best defender at the club when it comes to purely defending. Personally, I think his time here is over and we need to be looking to get someone new in.
I'd say we need to get an upgrade on Matic now, rather than wait for his form to drop off.

So there is about 7 players we need to sell (Matic will probably be sold next year or the year after at the latest).

We should keep Mata as he has been there and done it in europe. Give us experience we need and high quality at freekicks.

Like Rosso said above I wouldn't be against him coming back in a few years as part of the backroom team but now we have to be pretty ruthless I think. Mata is a lovely guy but we need better IMO moving forward. Having said that he could well still have an impact for us in Europe this season and that'd be a great way to sign off.

The lad deserves it. Great servant to the club.

If he leaves, I think that would mean Grealish coming in personally.

We should've let Mata go a couple of years back.

Nice guy, great to have around the club and has a blog etc, but that doesn't really help us on the pitch.

Now and again he'll show us glimpses of his talent because he's still a half decent footballer deep down but he's just so incredibly weak and slow.

Offload him, Lingard and Pereira and bring in Houssem Aouar. That would be and would solve a few issues in the squad.

i get that he's a nice guy, does a lot of work for charity (mate), but do we have any actual evidence that he is "good to have around the club"? or a key mentor for younger players etc? where was his influence when we were sh!t in the first half of this season? during our recent good spell, do we give him any credit for that, or credit bruno for coming to the club, and pogba and rashford for returning to fitness?

if it was so crucial to have the experience of young/valencia/mata at the club, why were we so rubbish when they were around? aren't ddg/pogba/maguire experienced enough? which other clubs have old players on their books just for their experience, rather than experience plus quality?

We could do worse than getting Ryan Fraser on a free this summer as a squad player if all 3 of Lingard, Pereira and Mata are off.

21 goal contributions (14 assists) in the league last season and is only 26.

Free transfer who would probably jump at the chant to sign for United and could sell him for a profit a year or 2 down the line if needed.

I'm not claiming he is because I don't know, it's just what people say. It happens a lot with older players. Matic is the same.

i saw spurs fans recently being horrified at being linked to him, but i thought the same as you - he wouldn't demand huge wages, would presumably be happy to be a squad player, and actually seems quite good(!)

so the question isn't whether he is better than sancho, but whether he's better than lingard or pereira or mata (or even james). and we all know the answer to that.

there is a general consensus that we are severely lacking in squad depth, but to add 4-6 decent players to your squad you are going to need either the academy to come good, or for the scouts to identufy some bargains - you buy origi for £10m for your squad, barkley for £15m, or fraser for nothing, you don't buy grealish for £60-80m.

Sorry, that was more in response to Rosso's "clearly massively important in the dressing room and on the training ground." Though I do think it is a cliche lazily trotted out about any old player, that they are automatically wise old sages, sitting the youngsters down and passing on crucial life lessons to them.
