Man Utd should be higher in the league than they are considering how good they've shown themselves to be. They should be comfortably third and a lot closer to Man City.

With a bit of luck, United can win the title next year.

since we got our decent players back we are third, comfortably.

amazing how people cannot - or will not - understand that it makes a big difference to your team when your key players are unavailable due to injury. we look a completely different team with bruno and pogba in, rather than fred and lingard, because, guess what, we are a completely different team.

taking the last 19 games, ie half a season, we have 37 points, chelsea 31, leicester 26, and city 37. so we're 3rd only on GD.

i think that boils down to injuries and lack of creativity pre january to be honest.
once the injuries cleared up and Bruno cam in there was a massive difference.

not really sure whats overly funny to be honest... but then again id expect nothing else from someone who's team has just won their first title in 30 years
i wonder if people would have laughed at the suggestion liverpool would win the league this season after city set a points record last season.

we really arent as far away from competing for the league than some people think.

if United start beating the 'smaller' teams again regularly I don't see why they cant challenge for the league next season

record against the top 6/7 teams is very good

It's the internet. We are either going to win the league or it's the worst United side in living memory, depending on where the ball currently is on the pitch.

XXXX

Wan-Bissaka Maguire XXXX Shaw

XXXX
Fernandes Pogba

Sancho Martial Rashford

The above team could be very good - BUT it assumes we get a new keeper (or Henderson... or De Gea returns to form), another CB, a new DM and Sancho. That's clearly not going to happen in one window.

We've got a promising team at the moment and the beginnings of some good squad depth (e.g. Fred and McTominay not making the XI at the moment, Williams, and of course Greenwood who's still not starting every game). We were painfully average at times up until the end of January so let's hope the improvement continues, but I don't think we'll be top two next season (as things stand - obviously we'll see what summer brings). United and Chelsea should be making sure they are 3 and 4 next season, putting some distance between them and the rest.

The season has been as expected / hoped from my perspective.

It was always going to be a rollercoaster and we knew that Ole wanted some new recruits to play the style that he wants to play.

That has happened and the signs are that his plan is working.

Whether it can get us to the next stage is yet to be seen but I'd certainly hope for one or two new faces in the summer and a stronger challenge - likely 3rd in a best case scenario but we're Man Utd - never say never.

Of course we were, we spent the majority of pre january playing mata, lingard and periera... injuries really didnt help us at the start pre jan.

Liverpool picked up 22 additional points from 17/18 and 18/19.

I don't for a minute have any expectations that United can challenge for the title, but let's not pretend that it is impossible - bizarre for a Liverpool fan to be mocking the idea, given their steep rise to glory in the past few seasons.

You're certainly on the right track. Nobody can deny you've got some good players and at good ages too!

However overall you are clearly a fair way off the pace city and us can produce. De gea looks like he needs replacing. You need a CB. Don't think Shaw is anything special and AWB is good but not European elite standard and don't think he ever will be. Pogba might come good but is he just inconsistent? Fernandez looks the business but what happens if he has a 10-15 game bad patch or injury which can happen. Martial flatters to deceive and again looks like he might never become the elite player he threatened to be. Rashford I think is a top player and Greenwood looks like one too but is a few years off and we've all seen young players like him drift away or have an injury that ruins them. The rest of your players are fairly average.

Feels like you could go either way at the minute.
Wouldn't be surprised to see you back up there soon with the buying power you have though. 3 top signings going right in a row has a huge impact on a team.

Past few seasons. This has been building since Klopp arrived. You have looked good enough for a title push for around a dozen games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yep - but in one season you went from 25 points behind to 1, which a 22 point increase.

That surely proves that it is possible.

Funny you say that as Rashford is the worst striker in our front three.

It proves it is possible with Klopp as your manager. Is ole in the same bracket? Guess we have to wait and see...

I'd also say we had more obvious problems that could be fixed easily with the right people. Yours are a bit more vague and therefore harder to sort.

Also our scouting and transfer business was absolutely on point for a few windows. Not easy to replicate.

Statistically or?

Because I think he's currently he one with the most obvious future.

Absolutely and I'm not for one minute saying I think it will happen or that it's likely.

I also agree with you about the issues at hand and think Ole will need more time, even if he is to get it right.

I just found it a bit odd for a fan of a team who has done just that to be ruling it out so arrogantly.

just ignore hafi.. hes a fecking moron

He is by far the worst finisher of the front three. He has some reason had a shocking season in front of goal and if he had the same conversion rate as Greenwood or Martial we most likely would be above Man City now.
