If a top team doesn't loan Rooney off of us he'll be instrumental next year. He takes the Schmeichel sometimes out of championship players. Just need to find a balance ahead of him.

vidal, I’ve heard from different sources from different Clubs, that they think Rooney doesn’t seem to add anything, and just ambles around in the middle of the park - I don’t know how true that is, or if you seriously think he’s adds a real quality to your team

That’s interesting, it’ll be good to see what he does given a full season for you guys

Don’t know what “sources from different clubs” means. People are entitled to their opinions. I think he has been superb for us.

I hope this sources work for your club Rev

Not making excuses, but that ref took a sly dislike to us

Not sure about the Ref taking a dislike to Derby...
He denied Baggies an obvious penalty when Pereira was pushed over in your box,
That said, harsh red card.

Just other supporters talking about what they’ve seen

It could just be WUMS and the typical criticising something you’d dearly like to have in your own team?

Of course it is.

A fine dinner. Various matings on the croft continue apace and life does go on. All will be well which ever bloody league we may find ourselves in.

Good night Rams wherever you are

Rooney is such an exquisite passer of the ball but we aren’t able to take full advantage of this. There are no wide players making runs inside their full backs or even a striker running into channels. When Waghorn plays he occasionally will make a run in behind the defence but that’s about it. Rooney can spray the ball to one of our full backs but generally they aren’t far enough forward for it to come to anything. So his passes are short ones, keeping the ball moving in non-threatening areas and trying to inch our way further up the pitch by degrees. All well and good but no killer passes. We need to give him better targets.

If it was not for Rooney we would be in the bottom 3, if not bottom.
This manager is as much use as the mammaries on a boar pig.
He is as inspiring as an out of date flat lettuce and should have been sacked a long time ago

Not seen the incident but I do know that Pereira does like a tumble.
Good player when he stays on his feet though

If Mel Morris hits his target next season of 5 players being youth players then we are in for a struggle next season

Only Bogle and possibly Bird I'd want to start in a strongest 11 next season, Sibley to play a big part and maybe Knight to play a minor role, after that the others arent good enough

Buchanen and Whittaker maybe a season loan or get rid

Massive gap in quality after Leeds, WBA, Brentford and Fulham to the rest this season

I hope we dont play to much youth next season just to hit this so called target

I think Buchanan has the potential to be a better player than Lowe. If we have 2 players for that position next season I can see them being Forsyth and Buchanan with Lowe and Malone moving out. I would cash in on Bogle and have Wisdom and Ebosele competing for right back. I think Bird and Sibley will establish themselves as first choices and Knight as a squad player next season. Mitchell-Lawson will probably be in the match day squad. Whittaker hasn't looked anywhere near ready to me but there is plenty of time for him to improve. We have had plenty of young loanees at Derby from other clubs over the years who didn't look up to much but who have gone on to have careers at the top level so we shouldn't judge too early. Bringing in a lot all at the same time won't work though - they need to come through with experience around them. I'm sure Cocu knows this but he may be forced to blood them earlier than he would wish if money is tight.

New keeper

Wisdom/Ebosele Te Wierek/Evans Clarke/Bielik Forsyth/Buchanan

Rooney/Shinnie Bird/Bielik

New/Mitchell-Lawson Holmes/Sibley/Knight Lawrence/New

Marriott/Waghorn/Martin/New

Whittaker, Hector-Ingram, Brown brothers getting some bench time

That would mean 4 new signings as well as keeping Clarke. To me the first-choice line-up of those could be pretty strong. A fit Marriott would be like a new signing and we could do with a loanee of the quality of Nketiah or Brewster. Such players are likely to be available and can make a massive difference as we saw last season. If Cocu had had Mount and Wilson in his squad rather than Darlow and Paterson I wonder where we would be now?

I quite like Lowe and prefer him to Forsyth and Malone
I wouldn't sell Bogle unless we receive bids of 10m+

I think if we put Buchanan up for loan I doubt they would be much interest, maybe non league, same for Whitaker, not seen enough of Mitchel Lawson to have an opinion

Holmes, Sibley and Knight would be fighting for one position for me. It would be nice if the two new had a little pace and flair

I dont see them keeping Marriot, Waghorn and Martin next season
I like Marriot but I think Cocu needs to have a long heart to heart with him and without being privy to the outcome hard to say what to do with him. I expect Waghorn to stay so maybe Martin will go which wouldnt bother me to much

I think once Bielik is fit him and Te Wierik will be first choice centre backs

To sum up I think we need 4 signings for next season, maybe 2 of those on loan

Mitchell-Lawson impressed at Bristol Rovers. In several games their fans made him man of the match. I don't mind Lowe but I feel he is tentative. Buchanan has more positivity about him but I agree he is very green and there would be some risk of him being the only understudy to a first-choice left back. I would still do it though. The youngsters have not achieved what they have done for no good reason - they are amongst the best of their age in the country - so must be given the opportunity to develop, the patience to know that it won't happen overnight and a bit of gentle handling by the manager to know when they need breaks from the team. This has got to be better than spending 4 million on Malone and a bit more on wages. When Malone was signed I certainly thought he would be very good at this level. You don't always get what you pay for. The way Cocu has handled Bird, Sibley etc gives me confidence that knows his players and understands what it needed to give them the best chance of breaking through permanently.

Thank you Vidal and Bushwacker. I don't really know these players so really helpful. I like Martin and he has been a great servant but do wonder if we could do better? Overall I am highly optimistic.

If we are on an equal footing financially with other clubs (bar the newly-relegated with their parachute cash) then I am also very optimistic. Cash could be raised by selling Bogle and maybe Lawrence. These would be losses to the team but might benefit it overall if invested well. At some point, if the young stars progress, we might need to sell one or more but please let this be for proper money and not the pittance for which Hughes was allowed to depart.

I agree about Martin. I’m a fan of his but he needs the team playing to his strengths and we are in desperate need of more movement and liveliness. Maybe Martin can be a good option for certain games where we want his holding up ability. If our wider players had more threat then Martin’s limitations might also be less important.

Sorry, back to Sibleygate - do you not think that the WBA player - O'Shea - should be cited for simulation and let's face it the lowest of the low on a football pitch, deliberately getting Sibley sent off? Or am I still living on a kibbutz?
