We must have watch a different game DJ. We looked a lot worse against Sheff United when Dendoncker came on and we played 352. We played into their hands at that point by allowing them to control tempo and play higher up the field whilst offering very little threat.
We at least threatened a little before that, but our attacks kept breaking down through poor control or misplaced passes. It was crying out for us to freshen up the front three, as it wasn't working for them last night. We had Podence on the bench who could have come in. Instead we went with the negative option and got exactly what we deserved.
You won’t smash Everton. They’re even more defensively organised than Sheffield United. Burnley are another nightmare for you. I think you’ll finish 6th, we’ll end up 5th and hope that’s enough for CL. If not, still a very good season
Agree with that Tam, it would appear that Nuno is reluctant to change in that he is very cautious in bringing on fresh players. Am I right in saying that he has only used two subs in the last two games ?
It was crying out for fresh legs last night and subs were available but no real change.
Can't see any change for the rest of this season, but
We need to get in more quality for next season.

In some respects I agree with that but I would interpret things differently. Dendoncker isn’t the type of player who will come on and make a difference in an attacking sense. But if he had played from the beginning I think he would have helped us control the game as we have done in most games this season. Traore meanwhile is literally one of the best impact subs in football at the moment and I think our chances of winning the game would have increased if Traore had replaced Dendoncker for the last half hour rather than the other way round
I'm not unhappy, I'm not criticising players or manager, the owners or anyone.
Wolves are fighting for a place in the top six, for the top four to even have been a possibility, is for me quite incredible.
This is easily the best team with the bast manager we have had in fifty years, for the first time in that time I actually feel like we are competing to win something, not in hope but a realistic proposition.
We are relevant again, some fans need to remember where we were just a few short years ago.
I agree Amiga and despite getting close I always thought Champions League qualification was a bit of a pipe dream this season. If get 6th it would be our highest league position since 1980 and after playing so many games this season with what is a small squad is a great achievement to me and I just can’t be negative about what where we are at.
If we keep the manager and our best players and add to the squad then Champions League qualification could well be a realistic target next season
Whilst I agree with all that you say, I don't want to throw it all away by being complacent. We seem to have got stuck in a rut and we need to think about what we can do about it, not just drift along thinking things will get better. You have to admit that lately the football has been dire and other teams have sussed out the way we play and we need to try something different.
COYW
I think we are in a similar place to last year. Yesterday's starting lineup and substitution was the same as last year. We spend the majority of our games just trying to stay in it and then nick something at the end.
What we have at the moment and the way we play isn't sustainable. We need to look to move forwards, otherwise we will end up fading away. The end of this season and the summer transfer window is a big deal and I think we need European football to keep progressing.
Tam we have improved from last year. The squad has more experience, Players like Traore has come to the fore.
We have added players who may not be ready to start, but are certainly learning and adapting to our style of play, I'm sure we will see more of them next season.
I have no idea why you think our play is not sustainable, other than losing players, I can't see any reason to change drastically.
And one of my pet hates are fans treating the transfer window as the be all and end all. It will offer opportunities, and certainly nothing certain.
Stating we need to move forward is basically saying Fosun, Nuno and the squad are not looking to do that, It is far easier to say than do.
I want Wolves to sign players with a clear vision of their role but more importantly their value to the team.
How much did Villa Spend? No vision and little value.
Spending is easy, especially for the fans.
Our current style is not sustainable because we do not actively control games. We are passive and look to keep shape and nick something. How many teams have you seen stay in European places for prolonged periods that do not look to control possession and actively try to win games from the start?
I haven't stated they are not looking to progress. That is you putting an interpretation on it so you can dismiss my thinking. If we drop out of European places or do not keep actively trying to progress, how many of our current star players do you see sticking around? Traore, Jota, Neves, Jimenez etc could all feasibly look to leave if they think the clubs progress has stalled.
I haven't said we need to overspend our means or spend wildly like Villa. Again, that is you putting your own interpretation on what I have said, so you can dismiss it. We need to look to by in players that help us progress to the next level. Keeping on buying players that don't improve us in the short term or medium term will see us quickly become a selling club and hit a ceiling.
Next year, all the clubs that have been poor this season will likely improve. Tottenham and Arsenal will likely look to improve their squads. Everton are looking better under Ancelotti. Chelsea are out of a transfer ban and have already spent money. Man United are already looking better. If we try to stand still, we will go backwards.
Sorry Tamwolf but you like so many fans are over always looking for an easy answer.
You say our style of play is not good enough, Basically saying you know more than Nuno, maybe you do, but forgive me if I give Nuno the benefit of the doubt. this is only his third year after all, and we have only managed promotion, European football, and a chance of the top six in that time. So I'm willing to give him time to prove himself til I appoint you as our next manager.
As for progressing, again are you saying everyone involved at Wolves are not looking to do that? Of course they are.
I never mentioned overspending, although that is a topic in it's own right. I mentioned buying the right players and getting value for money. whether that is 100,000, or 100, million. it all adds up to nothing if you fail to use it properly, in messing up spending can have catastrophic results.
Next year every club will look to improve, I would certainly not say likely, and again we will do the same. the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, and so far my belly has been pretty full.
Well you seem to know more about what I think than I do, so I'll leave you to it Amiga.
Tamwolf I'm sure you are a decent guy, as a fellow Wolves fan we both want success, But it is easy for you and me to sit in the stands, or watch on the TV and have all the answers.
All I'm trying to point out is it isn't that easy,
Well thanks for that wisdom. I'll stop having an opinion then.
I don’t think we will stand still next season even if we don’t make big waves in the transfer market. The majority of our squad are young enough to keep improving for a few years yet and there is something to be said for a stable squad.
Having said that I would of course welcome some new faces that would improve us, and give us a deeper squad. First thing we need to know is whether the players we have are going to stay.
Of course Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs and Arsenal are all going to want to improve to close the gap on Liverpool and City so no matter what we do it’s going to be a massive challenge to finish higher than 6th or 7th
Tamwolf we all have opinions, Hell even Nuno has one, whether you agree with it or not.
I understand what you are saying, I'm not even saying you are wrong. You may well be right. But If I were a gambling man I would bet on Nuno.
But that's just my opinion.
My thinking is more in line with Spangles, he has an opinion, but it is guided by a realism about the challenges we face.
We all want the same thing, getting there is not going to be easy.
Yep. My opinion isn't guided by realism.

I haven't said that we will stand still or that we won't progress. I have just said that we should be looking to progress as there are risk we could stall if we don't. I have no idea why that has proven so controversial.
I don't think wanting to progress is controversial, I think that imagining Wolves don't is.
But we all seem to be coming to the consensus that it is a massive challenge, but we are challenging, and that is the difference.
Who has imagined that Wolves don't want to progress? You're literally applying extreme viewpoints to people to make your own viewpoint sound better.
The biggest issue we have is fairly obvious and that is the ridiculous size of our squad. We simply don't have many options to freshen up the squad or change things to become less predictable. Each week it is the same, either start with Dendoncker in a 3-5-2 or Traore in a 3-4-3 the rest pick themselves pretty much. Lose one player to injury, Neto this week and we are left with next to nothing from the bench.
The small comfort in that is that Nuno said we needed to sign players and we tried to sign players, the current squad size is by accident not design so why people get so defensive when people mention additions to the squad I just don't know.
Can't speak for others but if the unthinkable happens and we finish say 8th which is a very clear possibility then this season will have been a massive missed opportunity and we will certainly struggle to keep all our players on board.
Tamwolf, nobody is imagining Wolves do not want to progress, so to say we need to is stating the obvious,
As for squad size Cinci, I will leave that for Nuno to sort out. I'm not sure of how many players he feels comfortable with, but I'm sure we will always be looking to improve the squad.
Ahh, nothing like back to back defeats to generate a bit of debate. This is just like the old days, where's tatter & pundit?
