The sitting on the fence answer is...

On first view, at full speed, no.

On repeat viewing, in slow motion, yes.

Conclusion: matter of opinion and respect the referee's decision - therefore, no.

This basically although I think it could be a red for both of those circumstances for endangering a player safety even as a accident.

That only comes into the equation if he's attempting to play the ball, as I understand it.

I don't think the Vardy one is as clear cut as Nketiah's.

A retrospective ban would be nice though

I say move on. Why is it always Arsenal incidents being questioned? When Aubameyang was sent off, Arsenal fans brought up Robertson tackle and said he should have been sent off as well. With Guendouzi fans and players wanted Maupay sent off for another incident against Leno. Now even Arteta wanted Vardy sent off. Arsenal have by far the worst disciplinary record in the league. They sit bottom of fair play table. They won't improve this untill they address their own problems instead of looking at others

I could name a fan of Liverpool, United, City, Spurs and Arsenal - immediately - who always take the attitude that refs are against them and/or that they're hard done by, to be fair!

Not for me. I thought it may be in real time but not after seeing the reply.

When I saw it in real time I thought it was an accident but after watching replays he is clearly trying to leave his foot in, then shiiiiits himself when he realises he caught Mustafi in the face

Vardy,

Cynically lashed out while still on the ground.

Did it without having his eyes on a ball that was already miles away from him.

Clearly endangered a player who was also on the ground and nowhere near possession.

Slow motion increases the perception of intent.

Agree with the consensus that watching it slowed down, it should have been

Definitely a red card incident when you see replays. Zero doubt he lashes out.

The only reason this is even being talked about is because an Arsenal player recklessly endangered a fellow professional's career and Arteta hasn't got the nuts to condemn him for it. He'd rather try to deflect to a nothing incident coincidentally involving his best player's main competitor for the golden boot.

But I'm sure Nketiah's a nice lad. So gentle and polite. Wouldn't harm a fly. Unless it was on an opponent's kneecap.

hes probably not meant to catch him in the face but hes definitely lashed his leg out in frustration for me and instantly regretted it. His natural falling would see him landing on his front, hes swung round in frustrations nothing natural about that.

Watched it a few times. Straight red. He knew what he was doing.

I don't know how anyone can watch it and not see it is a red to be honest. Then look who it is, the biggest in English football.

Nketiah was sent off (rightfully) after his tackle was replayed 9 times in slow motion

I'm referring to the Vardy challenge.

Intent had nothing to do with Nketiah's red card because it was for serious foul play.

Exactly it’s kind of bizarre that people can’t see it when you watch the replays.

What is it that you see? That he intentionally kicked him in the face? It is impossible to see that for certain. Only Vardy knows the answer to that.

No it isn't hard to see for certain. He straightens his feckin leg to lash out!!
