Paddy was good today certainly.
His overalls play is important to how we play but he’s scored 15 and his xg is 30. That is shockingly bad for a central striker. Stats don’t tell the whole story, and you can be invaluable to a team without being prolific... but you can create a good argument to say if we go up it’s been despite him not because of him.
I actually think bamford overall game has been worse since the lockdown.

I’m not a hater, I’m pleased for him that he’s got a few goals. He’s a confidence player and might bag a few more now.. good for him, good for us.
But he doesn’t take penalties because he missed them. And he plays in a side that creates more chances than any other side in the league. His xg is the worst of any of the leagues top scorers... by a distance

We really needed that performance today. After that double goal-line clearance by Stoke I thought it was going to be "one of those days" where we get caught with a mistake and end up losing. So, so glad that the game didn't go down that path.
Fingers crossed that Brentford drop some points between now and the season end just to relieve my anxiety. I've a feeling they may not. As long as we keep getting the wins, it really doesn't matter though!

People point to Sniffer as one of our best ever strikers, he never scored 20 goals for us in one season.
only 4 strikers in the whole 24 team league have more goals than bamford. think he should have about 25 or so.
not seen all the games so just going by game reports but he does so much more. glad we have him instead of mitrovic because in my opinion we'd be in the playoffs with him.

Fair point, but you’d love him in this era in this team. Passed the ball into the net and consistently good
Bamford hasn't done bad for us when you look at his stats over 2 seasons, especially considering his horrible injury last season, however he has missed some big chances during the course of the season - some straightforward chances - that’s been the frustration.

Bamford's goal was superb. the shot off the crossbar so close and so unlucky. He worked like a man possessed. Last week I noticed he was the last man making a crucial defensive tackle. He's really going for it - exactly what we need at this point.
Thought Meslier did pretty well with nothing much to do tonight. That was a great clearance he made with his head! He could do a Robinson and go up for last minute corners!
Agree Meslier was very good.
Hope he stays in goal for the remainder of the season because if there is one player who can muck the season up still it’s Kiko the clown 🤡

Just got up but still buzzing from yesterday.
We have had many games under Bielsa now but that second half was my favourite and epitomises what we are all about. Some beautiful football at time deadly counter attacks orchestrated by the magicial Hernandez.
Loved the fact that at 3 and 4 we didn't just ease off and sit on it like many teams would with full backs and midfielders surging forward right to the end.
Clearly nothing is done yet but was bowled over by that performance.

But what I don't understand is why, if he can execute free kicks with the beautiful precision we saw last week, when he can spray pinpoint pass around from the back, are Kalvin Phillips's corners so abysmally poor? Cooper and White never seem to get a header in from his corner kicks - when was the last time someone scored from a corner with their head?
Still moaning after a 5-0 win? Not moaning, just find it weird his corners are always so poor.
