the teams set up so differently it hard to say who could fit better into each starting 11.
utd's front three are all young and will be together for years to come but i doubt if any pool fans would trade their front 3 for yours.
it's like the midfield are playing different sports. both doing a good job for their perspective teams but not what the other team needs. though i think fabinho would easily take matics job.
defence the nod goes to liverpool because all four would make your team better.
in goal de gea has been the best for ages but takes quite a bit of stick from utd fans. allison fits the style of liverpool to a tee and was part of the 2 missing pieces to make a champion.
i think they're 2 good teams here that will both finish in the top 4 next year but i don't think utd has enough to win the league yet.
oh and as for the managers klopp is the best in my opinion but ole truly is at the wheel. must be refreshing after toxic mo.

exactly...that whole pool midfield 3 is designed to be the engine room to allow the full backs to essentially be wingers and not to offer creativity.

I think between the 3 of them they have 7 assists. United 3 have 11 despite playing 29 games compared to 88.

they're miles ahead in goals too.

but obviously Klopps system is very specifically laid out that the creativity either comes from the work of the front 3 (of which there is limited back up) or the full backs (ditto)

liverpool have done amazingly well and lack of injuries, a credit to the medical staff have kept these handful of players fit who are the creative force but if they don't invest in back up, they aren't going to get a meaningful contribution from that midfield at all.

Other fans dont see what firmino brings to liverpools team n success ? Really wouldnt go around admitting this n calling myself a fan of football. Same ones who probably think Henderson is garbage no doubt.

well I don't watch your games religiously but his stats are worse than a player who joined on deadline day

if you had a front 3 who all scored goals, and 2 midfielders who scored and created chances would his 'input' be useful?

curiously

posted on 10/7/20

the curiosity starts when you consider Liverpools considered first 11 have played about 25% more PL minutes than what Ole now believes is uniteds.

there's still a gap but it may not be as wide as the cocky ones among you seem to think it is. especially when you consider your razor thin squad in key positions.

100% agree hence a debatable penalty given their way tonight and a clear penalty not given their way

Total sense

Liverpool’s midfield is effective but painful to watch. Klopps famous heavy metal football is long gone. I find watching Liverpool a little dull now, 2 years ago I was jealous of their style.

Understandably I’m sure Liverpool fans don’t care, winning football is good football if you support the team. We’ve have plenty of underwhelming sides win things.

Next season will be interesting, Liverpool have been some way off their best since the Atletico tie, which must be a dozen games ago. It’s harder to motivate yourselves as champions and we know Klopps Dortmund struggled with this near the end of his tenure.

Not sure about Shaw being a better defender than Robertson

You have a long way to go before you can compare yourself with the elite

I would like to see how Man-united play the pressing game over an entire season with champions league fixtures thrown in midweek.. Your team will be fooked out by January.

Firmino is a fantastic work horse up the top of the pitch. He isn’t really there to play as a striker, more an extension of the midfield.

I susoect you're going to be a bit dissapointed next season going by this.

This is getting boring now. We are miles ahead of you and for good reason. Fabinho would stroll into your team over matic with his legs tied together. On the other hand I'd take Fernandez in a heartbeat at the moment. He wouldn't play every game but sometimes we lack a little extra spark in midfield and he would being plenty of that.

If you can't appreciate firmino then as stated above you don't really understand football at any real tactical level. Has some inconsistency in his game though and we are struggling to replace him if he's injured or off form.

Firmino a work horse?! Yes he has a ridiculously high work ethic but he has so much class as well. He's a proper Brazilian with the attitude of a German!

Think we are no where near as far off liverpool right now as some are making out (in terms of level of performance).

Consistency is the key for next season (and luck with injuries which we simply haven’t had over the past few years).

One, maybe two top signings a la Sancho, and if I were pool and city I’d be looking over my shoulder for next season for sure.

Start off next season well and maybe. I personally think you’ll be out of the title race by November.

I think they'll keep in touch for a bit longer but generally agree.

Consistency is the issue though isn't it. City and Liverpool are hitting levels of consistency that Ferguson never achieved.

The season we scraped 4th on the last day with klopp I thought our level was as good as any of the teams above us. But we weren't consistent and it was that that took time to change. Even if you improve at the same rate as we have then you can expect to be another 2/3 years before getting to this level. And let's remember out recruitment in that time has been as close to perfect as you get - big signings have been huge hits or at least adequate. Plus Klopp...

Speaking of consistency, just did some quick maths and if you take the form of the last 5 games then you are 3 points better off. To make up the 34 points at that rate would take 10.3 cycles or 52 games. So if you carried on like this for a whole season you still wouldn't have caught up. MASSIVE GAP

Let me know when Klopp and Pep get to the level of consistency of winning 13 premier league titles pal

All joking aside I take your point. Not saying we will mount a challenge next season, just saying we are not as far off as people are making out I think.

Said it for a long time now, Ole is building something serious at the club.

Appreciate you were joking but to clarify I'm not trying to undermine what Ferguson did (even if he did break the British transfer record 7 times :-p

Ye it's the "next season" fsns i take issue with. Even the season after that is too soon to claim imo
