keep repeating myself when united win these days but they're winning without even getting out of 2nd and 3rd gear

there's a lot more to come which must excite everyone

Would be interesting to see how this new formation fares against the better sides. At the moment you have been flat track bullies with dodgy pens. I know you did the double on City playing defensive and on the break but this new side won't be able to play that way and why should they.

its an option though Kash.

we were the first team to take a point off of you, have beaten city home and away, chelsea home and away,so we know we can get results against the "big boys" and we know we can play that way.

i dont expect ole to go gungho against the bigger teams and he could well revert back to type 1 to get those results

It’s not a new formation. It’s the the same formation we’ve played since Ole took over.

We’ve played 3-4-2-1 and the diamond on a handful of occasions, but 90% of the time we’ve played 4-2-3-1, with a double pivot and a high supporting line.

The approach has changed: generally-speaking we’re now trying to dominate possession in most games, and we’re playing out from the back with determination. But the structure of the team and the roles are the same.

Okay not new formation but clearly more attacking players who do more with the ball than the workman like James, Fred and co. The plan was to sit back and hit on the break. That's how you scored your goal against us at OT after Origi was fouled you hit us on the break and then parked the bus.

Kash it depends on how we are next season, if we have sancho and a powerful new cb and someone like parte, there is no reason why we won’t try to dominate teams like Liverpool
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah if you do that kind of business it would be quite envious for sure.

Indeed.
Back in February, United were languishing in 5th place in the table, fast forward 6 months and United are..... oh, still 5th.😕

Not sure why this new side couldn't do it, with some tactical adjustments for bigger games? We still have the speed and clinical finishing to make the counter work, and two players (pog and ferno) who can spring the trap much faster (though one might have to be benched to strengthen the defence)

We'll see though, we might just go toe to toe more and still look to counter when we can.

he hit that with some real power.

the thing that impresses me is his ability to hit the ball with both feet

Part of it I am sure is training (we still have a lot of young players whose games are improving in the side), cohesion and understanding better their roles and how the system should work.

Part of it is simply getting Pogba, Bruno and Greenwood into the side.

Now that the personnel is improved, the cohesion is improved, the press is understood, and the defensive surety is there, the coaching staff is in a position to let the lads be more positive and try to dominate the ball rather than shoring up with a safety-first approach.

Don’t get me wrong; we’ll still be trying to smash and grab at Anfield and the council house, because that’s the best way to play against Liverpool and City,

"first team to win by 3 or more goals in 4 consecutive games in pl history"

Haven't paid that much attention outside if Liverpool games lately, so wasn't aware of this. That is a pretty impressive stat.

The Ole outers aren't the only ones who should be pointed out. The people laying into the likes of Martial, Pogba and Rashford should hang their heads in shame.

There were people who actually thought McT/Fred should be starting ahead of Pogba before games resumed. Some thought Ighalo should be starting over Tony. I don't see a difference between these people and staunch Ole outers.

Having better players on the pitch at the same time has helped everybody.

Having said all of that, we're not there yet and we shouldn't be patting anybody on the back until they achieve something.

Just enjoy the moment.

Why shouldn’t players have to play for their place in the side?

You earn the right to play, and should have to fight to keep your place in the team based on your performances.

You can’t just put your 11 most technically gifted players on the pitch and tell the rest of the squad that they’ll play every week because the rest of you aren’t good enough.
