Surely title's nailed on with Bruno, I thought you'd be thinking about European glory.

Man City won the title in 2018 with 100 points.
City won it again in 2019, with 98 points.
Liverpool came 2nd in 2019 with 97 points.
Liverpool have won the title this season, and will be nudging the 100 point marker yet again.
Your dreaming if you think this current United team are capable of reaching those type of numbers next season, numbers even their previous great teams couldn't manage.
Would probably take everything going to plan, over a 3 year period of building, getting the right players in etc, for United to even come close to those types of points returns.
Obviously City and Liverpool could dip severly, but I seriously don't see any sane argument for that happening.

Yeah I don't get the point of this article either. I think United fans are just enjoying watching United again as the players seem to be enjoying playing football again

I think utd fans know more than most what it takes to win a title

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
Because they happen to support a club who have won it many times?
Alex Ferguson knew better than most, the fans just watched.
Fans mostly talk in retrospect, because that's all you can do.
So we look at the numbers, and what it has taken to win the title over the last few years, and what it tells you, is it's now an extremely high benchmark being set in terms of what you need to do to win the title.

Has Fernandes made all the difference or were you looking better before then?

I seem to remember things were looking pretty shaky for United before he joined.

well with city about to lose their star coach and players with th bean and Liverpool short on funds and an aging squad...20/21 is a shootout between united and Chelsea

I mean their superstars PoY Henderson already showing the signs of aging with a nee injury, beginning of the end

Aging squad

First team average age is 26. Three youth players on the bench bringing the average age of the squad lower.

in the 10 games before he joined we won 5, lost 4, and were 5th in the form table (on GD).

in the last 10 games (ie since he joined) we have won 7, lost zero, and are top of the form table.

i know it is easy - and far too many united fans are doing this for my liking - to attribute the whole improvement to one player, but bear in mind our last 10 games also feature the return from injury of rashford and pogba, and the nailing down of a first team spot by greenwood. in fact, looking at our best 11, they have played together just 4 times - our last 4 league games.

United are lucky they don't have a fan like Sandy. He would have been predicting you to do the sextuple next season already.

Fernandes has made a massive difference and for me we could still be riding the crest of a wave. But we've also got players like Pogba and Rashford back and Greenwood has returned from the Covid-19 hiatus in even better shape and form.

When we lost to Burnley in January, we had a really threadbare squad, due to injuries and lack of squad depth. Players returning from injury, plus bringing in Ighalo and Fernandes, mean that we are now able to leave on the bench players like Fred, McTominay, Ighalo and Williams, who have done well pretty much all season when they've played.

Take Bruno out and we lack imagination, the cunning, the craft. We lack everything positive. We are just a safe team ambling towards mediocrity.

Bruno is the main reason for the team's transformation, the freedom at which everyone plays in the last 3rd play is due to his influence.

I feel for Lingard and Pereira as they've really been the fall guys this season, but right from the start it was clear that we were having to play one or both of those players in positions where you really want some imagination, creativity, flair and a goal threat - wide-right or in the AM/10 position. Put Bruno in one of those slots and an on-fire Greenwood in the other and we're obviously a much, much more potent side going forward. That's how much difference two players can make - and one of them we didn't even have to buy.

Fernandes guarantees you a penalty every game.

Worth having a fiver on him for Golden Boot next season.

my big fear is that he injures himself diving for a penalty. hopefully he can work on his technique over the next few months.

To bring this back to United, it is not just about signings. Instead, it is about building a team and system to win games consistently, and that takes a lot of time, and a better manager than Solsjkaer imo, and possibly Lampard too.

........

Ole is doing exactly what you are saying here. In his first full season.

Whether he can win the title remains to be seen. But he is heading in the right direction.

And that is why there is now optimism and rightly so among United fans.
