Pepe just isn't good enough...

There is no way Pepe will be sold. Too much invested in him to give up on him now. I haven’t rated him since his first appearance for us but there is definitely some talent there, just don’t know if we will actually get it out of him or not. He looks worse than Gervinho more often than not

Pepe £72m

You've got to give him one season to bed in. Everyone was saying that we should of got Zaha instead of him and yet Pepe's numbers are better than Zaha's who is an established player. If he's still inconsistent come the end of next season then there might be a case of looking at an alternative.

Obviously don’t watch too much of Arsenal but thought he looked ok today?

All left foot and needs space to dribble in.

That lad of Wolves today Podence is worth more than Pepe.

Neto has looked very good whenever I've seen him play too and is only a teenager I think. Wolves have some very useful attacking squad options

I didn’t realise how one footed he is, at one point he wouldn’t even make a tackle with his right, instead attempting a weird looking left foot tackle

Zaha plays for Palace. Stop comparing the stats.

Zaha would have integrated far better and made far more of an impact than Pepe who for 72M as been pretty poor

Just a terrible player. Completely bizarre how he was deemed a £70m player by any stretch of anyone’s imagination.

You should have let Liverpool get him

Aside from it being his first season, which has been hugely disrupted by Covid. He'd likely have more goals if DL hadn't been wasting free kicks all season. He and Laca have missed out on goals there. Nice to see Auba send DL away today.

Just hope it's a massive 'confidence on his right foot issue' as opposed to him being truly unable to use it. Or that Arteta can teach him quickly to use it well enough to at least surprise some defenders next season, before he cuts inside

According to Emery we wanted Zaha but palace weren’t willing to sell him in installments, Lille were.

Had to be more aggressive with the board.

Pepe just come across as a player who doesn't look interested, shocking final ball and very rarely makes an impact

I was never in favour of getting Zaha. For what he was going to cost. I don't think he's worth it. I don't see him as an outstanding player held back by an average team as some seem to. He didn't last at Utd because Fergie saw he was talented but not talented enough for the top. Seen nothing from him at Palace to suggest otherwise and see him doing only marginally better at AFC or any top team.

"Run, stepover, stepover, run into the box, stepover, dive." Is about the sum of his game. Moaning how one dimensional Pepe is, it makes absolutely no sense to suggest that another one dimensional player (just in a different way) in Zaha.

I don't think we will ever know how Zaha would have performed if we bought him but in my opinion, he would have excelled in our team

I usually don't like to write off players of our own team this quickly, but I have to agree he isn't going to be good enough on the wings.

I don't mind him cutting inside, if he was good at it...
Of all the forwards that cut inside to shoot when they were youngsters (Ronaldo, Robben, V Persie or lesser gods like Quaresma, Townsend) Pepe has got to have one of the worst 'natural' dribbling forms: very stop-start when changing directions and really predictable.
The other guys have more fluid dribbling, keeping the ball closer to the body with smaller touches and are way harder to read when they make the cutting move.

Pepe is good at striking the ball though, but unfortunately for him it's much easier to train and get incredibly good at finishing than become a dribbling wonder as Ronaldo (knuckle shots), Messi (free kicks) and Robben (curler) have shown.

It's his first season in the PL.
For the 1st part of the season he was in and then out of the team for along time.

Yes he cost alot but atm hes the least of our problems.

Gotta give him at least until next season to show his worth, not every players hits the pl running.

Not seen anything of Pepe to suggest he links up well with other players.

Can score the odd worldie but hardly ever a consistent factor in games

Agreed.
He couldn't do any more at Palace and fully deserved a big move last summer. In his prime, an Arsenal fan, i've no doubt that he'd have taken his game to the next level with you.
Although the £80mil price tag was a valuation of his worth to our club, understandable tbf, it was way too high. As i said at the time, anything over £60mil was a good deal.
He's been woeful this season, uninterested and moodier than ever (which takes some doing!) yet we've still managed to stay up putting to bed the ''If we sell Wilf we're going down'' argument.
I was looking forward to seeing him finally showing his full potential in a better team than we can ever give him and i honestly think Arsenal would've been that team.

Oh well.

Spoken like a man who either doesn't watch the matches or doesn't actually have a clue what's going on, on the pitch when he does. Because if you'd watched Pepe play with AMN behind him and understood what was going on. when you did. Then you'd know those two link brilliantly, it's Bellerin who doesn't know his ass from his elbow linking with Pepe.

Pepe only struggles to link with the others when Bellerin plays, he gelled with AMN near instantly.

So it's all Bellerin's fault
Unbelievable what people will come up with

Ffs why do our fans always blame poor form as a result of another player.

Just accept it, his signing has been underwhelming. Yes there is a lot of talent but he looks a bit lost in the Prem
