Not a must win game

I agree Diafol with the principle of going seriously for the Europa League and FA Cup. Winning trophies creates a 'muscle memory' for the brain and would be a reinforcement of the cultural transformation of this team that Solskjaer is attempting.

The question though is what that means in terms of team selections. Does it mean always playing the best XI? What are the implications of doing so in terms of fatigue? I have no idea, because this long break followed by matches every three days is unprecedented.

Fergie developed a mastery of the art of rotation - utilising a big squad across the year to compete on multiple fronts. Solskjaer is doing the opposite at the moment, and maybe he has been advised this is sustainable over a short, intensive mini-season. Or maybe he has to change tack soon.

Appreciate that it's not must win but it will send a strong message that we mean business!

Let's not mess around. Try and win all our remaining PL games. That's the mentality we should be adopting.

This.... Aim to get third, win the europa... End on a real high

This is the test for Ole I feel. Can he rotate successfully? Funnily enough I think he could rotate v Chelsea and not diminish our chances too much as the blueprint against them so far this season has been sitting back, inviting pressure and striking. Think this could well work at Wembley so I could well see Fred, McT, James etc coming into the line-up.

It'd be good to get the game wrapped up early tonight to give some players a rest, and some others game time, before the three games against the London clubs.

The fact that we have been winning games early and then making the required subs means that the majority of the players are benefitting from play no more than 65-70 minutes.

Rashford can do everything James can do and more

I'm just saying what Ole could do not what I'd necessarily want him to do. I was thinking more that Martial would miss out with Rashford going up front. He's missed quite a bit of football so needs the games perhaps to get his sharpness back.

It's not to do with the upper echelons of the PL but I do think this was funny from yesterday - https://twitter.com/t_hxigh/status/1282343023385415681

Thought they were relatively calm considering how bad that Son goal was from a defensive point of view!

If we get 3rd and that's it, it will be a massive step forward under Ole. Anything else like a cup(s) would be a bonus.

Once this is achieved, Ed needs to back Ole in the transfer market to continue with project renaissance.

Out of curiosity, if we were fourth and won the Europa League, does fifth place take the Champions League spot as Europa winners automatically are placed in the Champions League?

I'm sure it doesn't

It would just be the four in that case. You can't finish outside the top 4 and qualify unless you win the Europa or CL.

I'd go as strong as possible tonight and then see what Chelsea and Leicester do before we play Palace.

I know top 4 is important but I'd really like us to win the FA Cup as well. Strangely enough though it may be the game against Chelsea where we can make ourselves 'weaker' without actually harming our chances much. Big week ahead but it's great that United are involved in big weeks. It's been too long!

Win tonight and Ole can afford to make a couple of changes against Palace, if required, IMO.

If (big if) we can get a couple of goals up tonight or on Thursday, we can bring the key players off early again to protect from injury and save legs.

I'd go strongest starting 11. Maybe mctominay/fred for matic as he's played a lot of football lately and more pace in the middle to try and protect against the counter. Could make an argument for bailly over lindelof for the same reason. Think tonight is gonna be tough

Considering all the doom and gloom that was around this place it would be utopia for me, to top it all off it will be achieved under a player, a legend we all adored. Can't think of a better roy of the rover's dream scenario.

It's all fine lines though, we could feck it all up but I have faith in this current set up and the way we have picked up form at the right time.

Yea, seeing Ole lift a cup would be amazing. Especially in his first full season.

I can understand some of the younger fans not giving him much of a chance, but the vitriol out of the mouthes of some of the fans that know all about what Ole has done for the club was quite saddening.

Yep. Quite sad how some of our fans denigrated him without even giving him a real chance. It was quite clear to see that the squad, which had players from the previous 4 managers, was going to need serious work. It was also clear earlier in the season that we were really really suffering from a lack of creativity in midfield. The arrival of Fernandes and return of Pogba have greatly improved the team and we are now seeing the kind of football that Ole wanted his team to produce.

Still a long way to go if we are to win the league under Ole, but looking at where we are right now, I think that he is doing a great job. I said that it was always likely that things would get worse before they could get better. Hopefully Ole can continue to reinforce the values of the club that were eroded in recent years and win a title in the next few seasons.

Sad thing is we're a defeat away from the usual suspects panicking and the bile starting all over again

Hopefully we go on to finish third... If we could add a cup I'd rate it my favourite season post Fergie

Jose's first when we won two trophies... The league campaign was Moyes standard and we kinda stumbled through the cup comps... Bar the finals i didn't enjoy it much

At the minute this feels different... Like we've actually reset and are moving forward as a club... The mood seems different or something, more positive

Let's fecking hope we carry on winning and those cancerous elements don't have a chance to gloat!

We've all been suffering during the the team's indifferent form, going through a mini depression of sorts but my god since February we've been something long may it continue. I've enjoyed Utd so much I have my appetite for footy in general back!
