Some United fans wanting Liverpool to win

It's not as if Liverpool even have that much to gain by winning; they've already won everything they're going to win this season. Madness not to want a result that could favour us (though I suspect our CL battle is with Leicester and not Chelsea in any case).

How well do you know them?

So you'd rather miss out on top 4 than have a team with nothing to play for and very little to gain have 1 more win? Seems reasonable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I would, I never want Liverpool to win.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We ultimately already have won Matth.
Liverpool are Premier League Champions, and beyond a points record, which might be out the window after the Arsenal game, the only relevance the game really has, is in regard to who finishes top 4.
If you derive more satisfaction from Liverpool losing points, that makes no difference to them whatsoever, rather than United having a better chance of CL football next season, that's a bit odd, and a bit sad.

Agree with this. As I implied above, though, I don't think what Chelsea do will matter to United now as I think it's Leicester we're going to have to dislodge.

Look at it as less cheering on Liverpool, more laughing at Chelsea

To be fair the OP is the only person who feels this way.

I'm not sure you need to be too bothered about Chelsea anyway, by the time that game comes around I wouldn't be surprised if Leicester had already dropped enough points.

In an ideal world Arsenal take points of Liverpool and they get angry and come out and whack Chelsea.

Don’t see Liverpool giving up their unbeaten home record even if it does end up helping United.

Any true United fan can always take joy out of Liverpool losing, regardless of whatever scenario the game has. It's strange that you don't understand that considering you're supposedly a Liverpool fan.

i wouldn't be so sure, they generally matched them when playing them this season, and even with a home record/points record on the line, liverpool's motivation levels won't be quite as intense. since football came back liverpool have only won 3 in 6, so it's certainly a possiblity.

Fair; Chelsea are capable and they've already beaten City, but I just don't see them winning this. Possibly a low-scoring draw if Liverpool aren't fully at the races.

Yep, that makes total sense.
So as the final whistle goes, and Liverpool lose a meaningly game, and Uniteds chances of competing in Europe's top competition fade, and then, minutes later, Liverpool are presented with the PL trophy, I can only imagine the joy that any proper United fan must be feeling at that moment. 😂

What a weird article. Of course we want lfc to win if we get cl? They’ve won the league already. Is anyone bothered about the points total record?

posted on 15/7/20

Did you also forget the time we beat newcastle 4-3 in 95/96? Did that not help you win the league? I doubt we rolled over just to stop United doing anything.

That said i hope we roll over for Chelsea now <insertsarcasmsmiley>
