Imagine if it is found there is absolutely no difference between playing at home with a crowd and without a crowd in terms of results. Egg on face for may people. We'll see.

Bundesliga stats showed a reduction in home advantage both in results and effect on refereeing decisions.

Interesting. So there could be a home advantage due to the presence of a crowd. Wonder what that translates to points on average or if seen in the Premier League too?

Wasn't that just in the first couple of weeks then it went back to normal? I'm sure I read that.

Don't know but if it shows the refs being influenced then that could be flagged as a problem.

I don't think refs are influenced too much. They just make mistakes. Some more than others. However I think players are influenced by fans on your side and of course playing in your own stadium which you're used to.

If the crowd noise is influencing the ref then maybe they should wear earplugs.

I used to do that while reffing under 12 matches put my earphones on and listen to some music so I don’t have to listen to parents and coaches wailing and can just ref on what I see.

Would take them out to speak if I had to 1:1 but when the kids say “you can’t hear me” I say, I don’t need to. Just play the game.

...and part of home advantage. Thats part of the home crowds job, to put pressure on and influence the ref (& opposition)
