All depends on your definition of world class.
For me KDB and VVD and probably Mane are the only one's I would truly recognise as world class. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, and these players {certainly the first two} would fall be in the elite player catagory.

take sterling out and your on the money imo. controversial but guy should be posting double the numbers considering the chances he gets. 1 assist in the pl all year.

It's funny, in my OP I had a paragraph saying how Sterling might be a controversial choice. He falls in line with my idea of what world class is though, in that he's been consistent top quality for a few seasons now (let's say 2 or more) in all competitions. He's been one of City's big players in this period where they've won trophies galore and broken points totals.

that's such an extraordinary stat i had to double check it...but yep, 1 PL assist all season. same number of goals as last year, but 8 fewer assists...have to assume he's being asked to play a slightly different role this year (with sane injured), but still amazing.
I prefer the ‘expected assists’ metric to assists when rating a player tbf - because it’s unfair to judge someone when they may be creating quality chances but the striker is too incompetent to finish them. Sterling has 6.82 xA this season.

No because it works for them, do you think we would drop the guy who singlehandedly turned out defence around 1 and a half years ago for Ramos? Objectively without taking into account their history and affinity for their clubs. If they were both free agents with no history at Liverpool, I would pick Van Dijk. Also even if you think Ramos is better, Madrid play with 2 CBs, not one, so he would still make their first 11, unless you are being seriously next level stupid and think Varane is better than him.

Varane is pretty awesome. France’s best defender (and probably defender of the tournament) in a World Cup win. Been a rock for a few years at the back helping his team win multiple CLs and league titles. VVD primarily plays on the left, on the right it’s a different discipline. I don’t think he would start for RM, please stop getting so worked up.
Vardy and Greenwood are World Class.

Depends how you assess the metric of being world class. If you asked me to pick which PL players would appear in a World XI right now, I would probably say De Bruyne, Mane, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. Not sure that makes them world class, though.
The Sterling assist stat is definitely remarkable but more a unique one off. Even the crap City version of Sterling was assisting more than that.
