The next generation sucked into the power of Russia.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only people who have been sucking in Russia are Nigel Farage, Aaron Banks and Dominic Cummings.

A storm in Vodka glass

Really? Interfering in our elections, poisoning their citizens on our streets?

It is still 1960 to them

Automatic for the people is a term used in communist parties, so I am suspicious on why you are talking about your bosses in Russia?

They used to be much more careful back then because they knew every belligerent action would come with a quick response.

Now we just roll out the red carpet (pun intended). Even go as far as making excuses whenever any of their agents get close enough to influence policy or pose for candid photos with our leaders.

It’s also an album by popular progressive rock band REM.

Forget about the opinion troll farms. The GRU literally wages war every day at the click of a mouse. Most of our governments try to downplay it, but every single infrastructural, research, or otherwise strategic "Western" installation will have a sysadmin constantly pulling his hair out trying to keep them at bay. Right down to our local police stations.

Oh I know, they’re relentless.

They were trying to steal our Covid 19 vaccine research the other day (despite telling their own people the virus is a hoax/bit of a cold.)

Russia carries about as much threat as my nan and she has been dead for 39 years.

Desperate attempts from Russia to remain relevant in the modern age and the world seem to be buying into it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Easy to say that from across the pond.

No Russian jets "accidentally" buzzing your perimeter or Russian subs in the North Sea constantly testing your response times.

No panics being set off in sleepy American towns as Russian assets "carelessly" leave their signature Polonium deposits all over town after one of their brazen overseas assassinations.

Just another baseless scare right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When oil prices rise they buzz Alaska, Greenland and Canadian Arctic with fighter jets.
Not when the price stays low.

And what does this buzzing achieve?

I was responding to Gillespie.
I know they are a defunct ex super power.
In their death throes.

They're not on the right course but a lot of this is in my opinion motivated by Putin's mafia boss style

He's entrenched his position and made himself by far the richest man in the world but now he can't quit... A lot like a mafioso, if he does the next power will have to neutralise him to remove the threat

So he does everything he can to hold onto his position, deals with oligarchs, appeal to the patriotic masses, suppression of dissent and as a last resort foreign "investment" if he needs somewhere to run to

exactly it, as i said, the last desperate attempts for them to stay relevant in a world that has left them behind

Which probably makes them even more unpredictable as they desperately try to pull off increasingly daring stunts to shore up their global image.

Putin now seems even more keen than Trump to see the last nuclear non-proliferation treaty expire next year.

Frees him up to start manufacturing all those crazy dirty weapons you see on the seedier Russian video streaming sites. Dirty bullets, dirty land mines, dirty tactical teargas, SSMs. The whole lot. All to the highest bidder.

Brave new world.

Even better. Now they'll come with no questions asked or strings attached.

Russia poses a "significant" and "immediate threat" to the UK and the Government has "actively avoided" addressing it in the past, a report has warned.

The long-awaited Russia report from the Intelligence and Security Committee scolds Moscow for establishing a "new normal" where it interferes in Britain on multiple fronts.

I'm just glad that Brexit means we've taken back control and that there will be no more Eastern-European types meddling in the British way of life...
