Posted this comment on the attached article by mistake.....

typical response to a back Ole article on this mad website.

Our Robb (yet again) is completely hopeless when it comes to analysing all things football.

Quite funny reading those posts 😂

Good job we got Bruno in January.

He's done well this season and deserves a lot of credit as it was clear to anyone how big a job this is, but I still think it's too early to say whether he is the right guy for us. I don't wanna take anything away from him because as I said he's done well, especially since January where we've seen a huge improvement, but we do also need to look at who we have been competing against. Lampard at Chelsea who had no transfer window and has been at the club less than Ole, Rodgers who has also been at Leicester less than Ole with far less resources, Arteta who's been at Arsenal only a few months, Jose who hasn't been at Spurs long either and Wolves.

Hopefully Ole and the players will get a big boost from finishing 3rd and build on it. There are clearly areas to improve on although it's diffuclt to say whether we can with the current situation which isn't Ole's fault at all. I also think there are some big question marks over his ability as a manager but so far he has deserved being kept in the job and can possibly improve on those areas.

In regards to the debate back in your last post that would have been around the time when we were looking very bad and Poch was an option. Persoanlly I still think Poch is a superior manager and I would have liked him back then, but I think that ship has sailed and for now Ole deserves full backing as he's done well this season overall.

The people calling for Ole's head in October were all the same ones who were clamouring for him to get the job after the PSG game.

Think of all the chief 'Ole out' guys on this board - pretty much to a man they all made an article back in March 2019 calling for the board to stop dithering and give him the job.

As I said at the time, it tells you more about their own knee-jerk nature than anything

This.

As a total Prem neutral, it’s hard not to like OGS. Signing Bruno made a huge difference though. Not sure you would have got anywhere near the top 4 without him. Even then though ... 66 pts? 2 more than Moyesie? At that rate of “progress” you’ll be challenging for the title by 2040.

Nobb and his dimwit mate 1982 on that thread. Talk about dumb and a dumber.

posted on 27/7/20

How was I dumb, we looked terrible in October having recently lost to Newcastle and West Ham with an awful game at home to Arsenal. Who knew we would be so different with Bruno?

I also said he deserves more time and not to be sacked.

We were 12th when that article was written and no one even knew what Covid19 was. Things change.

We had a lot of issues and still do before we can cement top four. Ole has shown that given the backing and tools, he'll help us improve. Whether he can take the final step is yet to be seen. The board do need to back him.

This finish doesn't feel like how it did when we finished 2nd under Jose. That seemed like a team on a downward spiral when that season ended. This one feels like it is on a upward trajectory.

......

One of the little pr!cks went from ‘why did we appoint him as caretaker manager’ to ‘sign him up now’ to ‘sack him’ in the space of nine weeks.

I'm glad that instead of sacking Ole, Edward managed to back him and now we're seeing rewards. Other than James, the other signings are the ones we can all agree are a success.

which one was that VC? Could be any of them.

I wouldn’t call Maguire a success. There are still question marks over his pace and how it affects our set up and that’s not even going into his fee.

I think criticism of Ole is valid still and certainly was earlier in the season.

There were some low points this season where Ole looked like he wasn't getting anywhere.

Happy things have improved and we look like we can be a real force next season.

A few things still concern me but I feel like the dark few years are coming to an end and we're on the up.

Well I did to be fair.

Not specifically Bruno, but we told you that if you stood by Ole and gave him time to chop and change his squad you would see the improvements step by step. Still a long way to go to get to the heights we require to compete at the top, but the road that Ole and Ed have agreed on is now working.

As predicted by some. As rubbished by others.

I don't know about that. If not for De Gea having a mare most of the season, we'd have conceded less than anyone else in the league.

I would. He has improved our defence a fair bit. And he had proved reliable fitness wise.

Who knows, they might concern Ole too. But he can't fix everything at once. Criticism is valid, as it is of posters who get it wrong.

But you lot would have sacked him then. If you did and we had to start yet again with another manager, yesterday wouldn't have happened.

Yep. I had numerous discussions with the Ole out brigade telling them you judge him when he actually had an AM to play. You could see that having some creativity in the team would make a big difference.

I’m not saying Maguire is a failure, I’m saying that for what we paid and what we needed I dont think he’s the solution. But he’s done ok and seems to have the sort of character we need, I wouldn’t necessarily call that a success though.

I like Maguire, and I was one of those who wasn't too keen on his signing in the summer.

James isn't great, but I don't think too much was expected of him anyway.

AWB is the one I've been disappointed with

posted on 27/7/20

For the fee we paid for James it was worth the risk, I doubt he’s on high wages either so I can imagine we can move him on if we want.

AWB is an odd one because we all knew his game lacked a lot going forward but he does at least seem to be trying in that department. Defensively he’s been great.
