Hawk Eye To Be Sued?

Seems fair enough.
If the parameters for adjudicating/refereeing a game were not as they were set out before the game, without both teams being informed before kick off, then to be honest I don't blame them.
People talking about VAR decisions that may have gone Bournemouth way, are missing the point.
It's understood by everyone that VAR decisions still come down to the decision of an official, hawkeye is a pretty unquestionable technology that should have been in operation.

The decision is up there with the Mendes ghost goal vs United

I've found the Linesman

I'm quick, but even I wouldn't have been up with play when that happened. Nobody would have. Usain Bolt wouldn't have. Therefore no-one was in a position to see that the ball was over the line, so the correct decision was made. Not sure why there has been such a song and dance about it.

The commentators did and they were 50 yards away.

But Roy Carroll should have owned up and said it had crossed the line.

song and dance about it?it was during the Era man-united were not ALLOWED to lose at home to the likes of Tottenham. In fact from memory. Spurs were robbed 3 times in a row at old Trafford.

In all fairness you should have had a penalty about 5 mins before hand so a draw was a fair result.

Not sure that commentators are allowed to decide on things though.

Everyone watching on the TV could see it was over the line. That was obvious. Plenty in the stands could see it was over the line. But these people don't make the decisions. The match officials do. And none of them were in a position to see that it was over the line. With good reason.

Yeah but we didn't have VAR back then, we just had to go with what the referees stood by.

Imagine if the Mendes goal happened now and the refs missed it and somehow Hawk-Eye glitched and didn't send a signal. Then VAR decide they can't allow it because Hawk-Eye didn't work.

posted on 28/7/20

Can't imagine the terms of use allow for that.

Think all wronged by VAR this season should also put in a claim. Will be a bloodbath.

It was a mistake but seems over the top that you could sue them. If it was some kind of one off playoff game separate from league to decide who was relegated, and that decision was made in last minute, then maybe you could have a case. But over a 38 game league season you can’t really bring up a single incident and say that is the exact cause of your relegation. They might have been on end of some favourable ref mistakes that contributed to them getting the points they did as well

Don't think the Corinthian Spirit has played much of a part in football for about 125 years or so.

I’m not surprised they’re trying to. That goal has cost them £100m.

You can't be serious?

I assume you sit at games tutting, as players appeal for something they know isn't theirs, over and over again.

I'm not sure that they would be successful in a lawsuit, depends in the terms of the hawk-eye agreement I guess.

However, people saying they were relegated becumause they weren't good enough over a season are missing the point. Had this decision (which unlike an interpreted refs decision was a clear breach of games rules) been given then they would have been good enough over the season.

Well actually, no one knows what would have happened had that decision been made correctly.

Welshpoolfan,. But am sure other teams can look at other incidents and say that should be reversed and so on.
Bournemouth were terrible and definitely deserved to be relegated.

If a player dives for a penalty when he knows there is no contact, he has cheated.

Carroll did no different. He knew the ball crossed the line and said nothing. He cheated.

There have been many bad calls throughout with var/ref mistakes.

I remember villa missing out on a last minute equaliser at Palace because the ref said Grealish dived when he was fouled and blew up just before the ball hit the net. Then there was that awful penalty call v United.

Then if Sheffield had gone 1 up there's no guarantee they win the game.

Over 38 games if you finish in the bottom three you deserve to go down.
