I'm only in my mid 30s and can remember managers like Hector Cuper and Marcelo Lippi menacingly pacing back and forth along the touchline, smoking their way through an entire pack over 90 minutes without ever taking a seat.

Standards can cut both ways.

I remember Sir Alex wearing shorts for a Charity/Community Shield game in the early 2000s.

Pep's Topman t-shirt and jeans at the FA cup semi was just ridiculous. For me a manger should either dress smart or be in club training gear.

I'd probably end up in the latter if it were me. Can't really imagine pacing up and down the touchline in a suit and tie.

to be fair, at the time, he had a great set of pins on him.

Diego Simeone always seems to pull it off as did Poch.

I remember the early 90s when managers used to wear those long club color Adidas coats. Always wanted one as a kid.

I wonder what this team's manager wore?

Suit - excellent
Club Track Suit - Fair enough
But remember the days when all the Scousers had Keegan hairstyles and Shell Suits.
Thankfully we have evolved as a species since then.

This thread can't go on much longer without Joachim Loew getting a mention.

I remember hearing someone say that Tony Pulis always looks like he should have a dog with him on the sidelines. The image had me laughing for a few minutes.

That Southampton manager & Klopp sometimes look like they’ve just spent their Christmas JD Vouchers

Some of Klopp’s touchline clobber is horrendous. I honestly would bet on him wearing Liverpool branded socks and underwear.

I quite rate pep’s casual looks. Not everyday you have to be in a suit and tie or tracksuit in the middle of summer.

Simeone has defo nailed down the mafia boss look

A lot of managers you can tell how motivated they are by what they’re wearing. I’m pretty sure both Conte and Mourinho have a correlation that when they’re playing well they wear suits and if their team is doing chit or they’re having a strop against the board it’s back to tracksuits

Honestly if I was a manager I’d turn up suited and booted, dripped out. Armani blazer, Gucci belt, Louboutin shoes, big fat watch. And some sunglasses. Dunno why more of these managers don’t wear some sunglasses to complete the look. We all know you’re on 100k/week, fackin use it

but would it work on a cold, wet, windy night at stoke?

Marcelo Bielsa could manage in a mankini for all I care. They're there to win games, not dress to impress.

Ron Atkinson always dripped gold, necklaces, bracelets, watches and probably a Prince Albert too.

There was one manager in the EPL a few years ago wearing football boots ffs. Why!?
He wasn’t a player manager either.

Think Stuart Pearce may have done that.
