That's you, isn't it.

I would recommend any Bob Newhart sketches, eg Walter Raleigh, bomb defusal, driving instructor , bus driver training, Bob is still alive and is 90, a master of the deadpan style of humour

I loved Bob Newhart, and bought an “LP” with all the famous sketches back in the 1970s. Him and the Simpsons are probably the only funny stuff that’s come from the USA sadly.

It is weird isn't it how US and British humour are so different. There is some good stuff out here but i certainly appreciate British humour more.

I too had the "LP" Bute, but I'm surprised about the Simpsons. Never really took to cartoons. However, All in the Family, was and still is hilarious. Based on the UK sitcom "Till death us do part". Only ten times better.

πŸ‘thank you
I rate Frasier as a top Us comedy show, and grew up with the classic UK sitcoms of 70 and 80 s
This format is probably a little tired and dated now . The Fast Show was something different
We are getting comedians like Romesh and Coogan and Rob Brydon doing travel shows now

Do love The Trip but my wife just cannot understand how I can find two men chatting in a restaurant to be entertaining

I agree that Bob was the master, I still have him , now on CD and play it regularly in the car.
I also liked Sergeant Bilko on early TV, The Golden Girls and Benson if any of you are old enough to remember them.
Today's US comedy is pretty dire IMO.

The trip is great and I think mainly off the cuff.

The first couple of 'the trip' were good but the third installment was a little weak, not watched the fourth one as yet though it is on Amazon now.

US comedy is generally on the light side and at a sitcom level, never particularly dark humour. Good in its own way but the best comedy to me generally has a dark undertone.

Sgt Bilko is a great call, there are dramas with dark comedy eg MASH another great US show, and over here recently Killing Eve has dark comedy

The thing about The Simpsons is that the humour appeals to all levels/ ages. It's far too clever and sophisticated to be dismissed as just "a cartoon".

The US does a good job with the adult Cartoons. South Park is very good as well as is Family Guy

It's Kenny that gets killed. And Cartman not Carmen

There has been some incredibly well written comedy coming across the pond in recent years, The Big Bang Theory, My Family, Brooklyn nine-nine, even Friends.

I love the dark stuff too though, The League of Gentlemen and other stuff written by the same guys, Psychoville & Inside Number 9.
