But if any potential buyers are reading, he’s obviously the new Roberto Carlos under the right guidance. True fact.

looool i seen enough of him, and havent rated him since he broke through. Was hoping some of your guys would tell me otherwise about 6 months ago when rumours came out, you didnt then. And you guys still dont rate him now.
Worrying if we buy him for 80 million. I reckon he'd be similar to how luke shaw is at utd. Decent but no world beater.

Luke Shaw is a better defender than Chilwell. Comfortably.

He’s a technically gifted footballer than can play in tight spaces and give and go for fun. But ask him to defend or play a decent ball in to the box and he falls down dramatically.

He can learn defending with his ability, but I’m not sure he’ll ever be a player that you can rely on not to waste good opportunities by making poor decisions in the final 3rd.

He’s rated daft high in the game so maybe experts can see something every Leicester fan can’t. I’d be surprised though.

I would love to see him at GP. Maybe as a WB with a back three.

Has plenty of talent when have seen him. But think the chance of him going for silly money has passed.

He's so one footed it's a crime to Football.

I think it's worth repeating: He hasn't had a great season this year. He's been useful with his energy getting up and down the wing, but he's made some poor mistakes and I was at the Anfield match earlier in the year when he genuinely looked like he'd been plucked out of the stands for about 20 minutes.
But the year before that he had come on really well. I don't know whether it's been nerves, overconfidence or some sort of distraction this season but he can do better.

Although his live-play crossing has always been abysmal and there's no sign of that changing.

Sell... Even the Chelsea fans do not want. He is useless! Anything more than a tender bite their hand
It any scouters are reading this it is just a ploy. We want him to stay forever........ Best LB since Steve Witworth. Dennis Rolfe was pretty handy on the right too.

You can all say how bad he is but in reality, there are very few decent defenders, full backs or centre backs, around these days. I think he's decent and with room to improve. IMO he's better than Shaw and he's certainly an upgrade on Emerson and Alonso. For Chelsea, the most important thing is he knows how to defend. In an ideal world we'd be buying Alaba or discovering the next Ashley Cole, but if we can't do that, I'll take Chilwell.

Having watched him break through in his debut locally (at Hull) as I had mentioned on here previously, I was very much impressed with his running down the flank and general positional and passing skills.

I have always been keen to follow the progress of one of our players for whom I have been fortunate enough to see appearing in their first competitive match and how they fared from that point onwards.

I am very disappointed it has come to all this. He (BC) looked like a star in the making and I have to side with all those who have seen him performing on a regular basis. There was one particular televised match this past season (Bournemouth away possibly) where he put in an outstanding performance with fast running down the wing but it’s just difficult to understand why he’s playing so erratically. Certainly at 23 years of age he has time very much on his side to recover, focus and improve. If he remains at the club for the months ahead then that’s what he has to aim for, however, at this rate it doesn’t look like it will happen at Leicester so I will go with the flow on this one.

‘For Chelsea, the most important thing is he knows how to defend‘

He could improve in this area with support but is currently poor. Unless Lampard asks, then he’s f***** amazing!

He’s certainly not a terrible player and is excellent when running at pace with the ball, but it’s that lack of progress he’s made in defending and crossing that is the concern.

I really hope it doesn’t drag on though. We always have a unspoken minimum value for these sorts of players, I wonder what Chilwell’s is...

60m?

I disagree with this idea that Chilwell can't defend. He's had some concentration lapses this season but he can do it. I think Ricardo gets caught out of position far more than Chilwell does.

posted on 30/7/20

We will have to disagree on that one. I think, even when it isn’t about being caught up field, Chilwell ball-watches and loses a player too easily. Ricardo is no superstar defender but I think often his mistakes are, as you mentioned, when he has pushed forward and we have been caught on the counter - but when he has been going forward he has often been excellent for us in attack and was a huge hole when he got injured. I just don’t see anything that counterbalances Chilwell’s weaknesses. I would still have hope for him developing but I just couldn’t argue that the retention of him would be worth more than 60/70m.

And I’m still not convinced by his injury!!!!! :D

Difference with Pereira is that he can actually attack!

posted on 30/7/20

Personally I think Chilwell is believing the hype around himself, I do believe he probably thinks he is Gods gift to left backs.

Just my opinion of course.

Also I see Newcastle might be interested in Ian as were also after the Celtic Forward Odsonne Edouard ?

Yes sorry... I typed why instead of where?

I’d cash in as think he’s at the peak of what we’d get for him and I can’t prove it but his heart feels like it has gone. With Thomas looking good and Fuchs retained for a year I’d bring in someone to compete with Thomas whilst he develops. Think Diego Rico from Bournemouth would be a good option, shouldn’t be too expensive and provides a good number of assists. He struggled in first seasons in England but looks good now.

Is anyone actually going to make an offer though?
As in - an offer the club would accept.

posted on 31/7/20

I would imagine Chelsea don’t want to go above 50m and we are suggesting 80m.
I think IF there’s an agreement, it will be for 60+ with add ons.

posted on 31/7/20

I would take anything over £50m

posted on 31/7/20

Anything over 50m for me as well. But would compromise if they included Hudson Odoi
