I agree with the sentiment of the article though. City get their business done very quickly for paying a small premium.
Imo £40m is about right. I'm sure if they waited all summer and continually haggled they could probably get him for £35m by the end of the window.
However, is that saving really worth it given he'd miss out on a pre season and there's the potential for him to move elsewhere in the interim?
This is what I hate about levy in the transfer market. Sometimes his haggling will get a good deal, but generally it's a small discount, jeopardises the transfer and leaves the player without a pre season at the club.

I would have been happy with Ake at the club. If City were interested that not much we could have done in all seriousness.
I do agree about being left behind while others are doing their business though. We can't be sitting back again dragging our transfers out. It gets us nowhere.
Ake looks like a decent player but you can't overlook the fact Bournemouth have been absolutely terrible defensively even with him for years now.
Interesting to see if he can make the step up or just ends up another flop defence signing by Pep.
