Spurs will be picking at the leftovers once the money clubs have had their fill, this is why we rarely get big deals done early. Levy isn`t prepared to splash the cash to compete, so we end up rooting out bargains towards the end of the window when the top players have already been snapped up.

A decent signing for £ity, slightly over priced perhaps and time will tell, but Ake won`t be allowed to use his hands and make professional fouls punishment free like VVD does at Pool.

Lovely.

Yeah we would have never spent that on him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah..... We spent the same on Sanchez..... Oops
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sanchez was part of a team that got to the CL final. Ake was part of a team that has just been relegated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

.....and leader of a defence that shipped 60 goals for the 3rd successive season.

Ake is more comfortable on the ball than Sanches, but not sure he has many other better qualities.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well he clearly isn`t, he was part of a defence that just got relegated.

Strange considering Ake is a LCB as is Laporte. Always thought Ake was slightly over rated tbh. Bournemouth have been shocking at the back for ages also.

Laporte has been injured so much though. Think ake is there to cover for him and also be used at LB and even DM in a pinch

They're not going to take Vertonghen then if Ake is also left sided.

But if we had come in for him along with city he would have just gone to city anyway so don’t really see the point of criticising spurs in the article......

Strange signing tbh, unless they're just paying big bucks for him as backup and still have another right sided CB lined up. He's not gonna usurp Laporte and you can't play a left footer at RCB

Also while he must be decent, I've never watched him play and come away really impressed. Never struck me as CL level

This is what you get with chequebook clubs, they just keep buying expensive players, when they have no real need for them.

You can play a left footed CB at RCB. I don’t understand why so many people can’t get their head around this

exactly. Ake did it himself at Bournemouth this season and majority of LCBs are right footers, just because its rarer its seen as a big No No.

As mentioned previously Laporte is class however he has his injury problems so Ake will get minutes. Whether he will be any good for City is remained to be seen.

Could be tactical simply to stop other rivals buying him. I mean, what's £43m to that lot. Chicken feed.

Name a left footed CB that regularly plays on the right side

There’s no need for them to if their partner is right footed, they’re rare. If two righties can do it, there’s no reason why two lefties can’t.

I just personally think left footers are more one footed than right footers, so it would be more awkward for them. Plus, they would have had far less experience playing on the other side than right footers. Right footers would have grown up playing either side, whereas left footers wouldn't

This is all true, ake probably good enough on the ball to play on the right but I doubt it's the plan

The last point is a fair one, I still think people are overthinking it though. Maybe we’ll see.
