I don't think that's at all fair, after all they do have their wife and mistress to feed.
One thing is for sure.
Rangers should be hammered for this
He got made to look like a deluded old fool today off Nicola Sturgeon. Think he’s realised he’s out his depth and there’s no way to put a good spin on trashing Scotland’s covid response in comparison to England et al.

He reminds me of a Terry Thomas type villian, all slimey, sweaty and smarmy.
Shame he is gone. I was just starting to like him.
I particularly appreciate how he joined sides with Nicola Sturgeon to encourage people to vote for independence
Seems like he was given a big nudge from those at Westminster.
Didn't take long before it was briefed that Douglas Ross was going to stand, likely unopposed.

The should've made Murdo Fraser their mouthpiece for Scotland, as he's a really astute politician.

Yep, the linesman that took Angus Robertson's seat in 2017.
I get why they are pushing Ross, young and seems to have that energy to fight the SNP. Scottish Tory voters might like the fact he resigned from his junior ministerial post over the Cummings scandal and has that distance from the Westminster party (Cummings and Johnson might like that too, weirdly).
Think the idea is that he will lead the Party with Davidson filling in at FMQs, I assume he will have to stand as an MSP at next years elections and might have to stop being an MP?
I still see it playing into the SNPs hands though, its easy to say they Westminster are pulling the strings, he isnt even an MSP etc etc.
Murdo Fraser has been around a while so he would be an obvious candidate from the current crop of MSPs. Adam Tomkins would also be another viable candidate.

The ba' is burst for all these UK parties that spout their policies with no consideration for the devolved governments. The North Britain leaders then spend half their time scrambling, spinning and failing to shape policy that fits both UK and local needs.
Their only hope is to sever all ties with London though even then they will be guilty by association even if only in name. Successive red and blue governments are deemed to have done very little for us denizens of North Britain.
Absolutey Silver, the jig is up.
I've got no problem voting for a Scottish political party when we're independent, they will after all have Scotland's best interests at heart. Hell, I might even vote for the Scottish Tories!

I would actually expect a chunk of the old right SNP and the Scottish Tories to form a new party.
Labour would likely still try and make a go of it.
The SNP would probably split into left and centre groups. Possibly both new parties

I had a wee chuckle at this last night. Doubt anyone will notice he's gone
Apparently he's been pushed rather than walked.
I can't see how a MP can lead the Scottish Tories to be honest. I don't think that will play well, given that he can't directly question the First Minister, so the optics of Ross taking the leadership won't look good.
It is worth noting that Carlaw was the final Tory in a position of power () that was anti-Boris and anti-Brexit. The purge is complete.
Surely a bigger deal assuming Ross gets the job is that he resigned office over Cummings just a couple of months ago yet looks likely to discard all his morals and take office again and presumably carry out orders from #10?
Weasels the lot of them.
Carlaw was sacked, that's why Gove was up here.
When Douglas Ross is the best you have to offer as a replacement you may as well not bother. Although not a hard job for him when Sturgeon is stuck between a rock and a hard place with no serious intention to push for independence shown in a long time now.

The only problems the SNP have are internal.
The vote last night to try to put roadblocks on Cherry's attempts to stand as a MSP was very poor imo. A clear attempt from the hierarchy to stop her getting her mitts on Sturgeon's job when she decides to move on.

I would have to disagree in the strongest possible terms. The number 1 problem for the SNP is not internal, it's getting permission from Unionists to hold a referendum the Unionists are positioned to lose.
Like Turkeys voting for Christmas, it won't happen.
Also Cherry is a boot.
One of my close mates is right at the centre of the party and he's said for years now that she's a troublemaker.
Troublemaker or someone with a different vision?
She's the one who is going to be more aggressively pursuing independence and finding the mechanisms for delivering it, which makes her an attractive proposition for many in the party.
And I would suggest many in the SNP are quite content with holding what power they have at the moment and increasing it little by little, so actually the problem with not getting to hold the referendum may not be as pressing for them as you make out.
