I think he's an excellent player... my only concern is I don't know enough about his personality to know whether we're risking another Ozil situation, i.e. a skilful player taking the easy/lazy route of picking up a fat pay cheque, not training hard and not contributing... would prefer a younger/cheaper/hungrier player unless we are sure he's more of the Auba-mould than the Ozil-mould
Incredibly frustrating player who is world class on his rare days. Has had a mixed spell with us. Could get a good year or two and could get an absolute passenger.
May also risk tierney and Bellerin in training as he loves to hit the full backs when attempting to put in a cross.

I'd have been alright with this if it was 3 yrs ago. But you have to question who exactly benefits when you give a 3 year, big wage contract to a 32 yr old.

Yeah but we had this with Kurzawa. Good chance it's just contract games with Chelsea.
It depends how much he wants in wages. I'm not so much worried about the length of the contract if the wages are low. But I also think offloading Ozil and his massive wages should be our priority.

Was thinking exactly the same thing in regards to his personality. He does seem to be a bit moody and lazy at times. A three year contract would be a mistake. I hope that this is not a move by Arteta to help out an old friend?
I thought I’d read 300k a week?
Willian is one of the best dribblers in Europe. But his output is terrible. Wouldn’t be against the idea of signing him though since we need good width
The guy also scores from set pieces and from what I have heard, never missed a pen for Chelsea
looked the fittest player on the pitch vs us the other week. Looked like he still had a bit of pace too.

wasnt his greatest game, he messed up a good chance and ended some good plays, but the guy was everywhere, sprinting about player to player at times pressing. And we know about his ability if what inconsistent too.
As much as i'd like to laugh at Arsenal for taking old people on high wages, i think Willian on a free even at that age would be a decent signing and hes got a good few years left from what ive seen. Reason Chelsea wanna keep him too.
Good signing, also he only has to go round the corner to get his medical done by Spurs.

If Arteta wants Willian, then he has a purpose for him. Yes he's 32 and maybe already peaked but he's still a very good player on his day.
He's not a long term signing, that's already been made by handing 17 year old Saka the number 7 shirt which shows the long term strategy. But just as Arteta wants Luiz to nurture the younger cb's, Willian might just be a shroud freebie in helping develop Saka, Martinelli etc.
I really really hope he doesn't do this....
I think Willian is a good player, always thought he’s sort of player Arsenal need. But I’m still bit sceptical of this deal. It could be a great short term fix, and he turns out to be key more us to getting CL for example, but what happens if we don’t get CL and we’re stuck with an ageing player who we can’t get rid of, does that end up with stopping us from getting new players
If we sign him and combine it with younger high ceiling players then fine. But we shouldn’t be basing our transfer strategy on players who could decline quickly then we’re once again left with a poor squad which needs fixing in a years time and not much money to do it
Cedric
Luiz
Willian
Potentially Coutinho
All Agent Kia players.
To me it seems like Raul is just using his connections with agents to get players through deals and agreements
I don’t like that type of transfer policy. Like every now and then fine but we also need to do it through a good planning approach by looking at the qualities we actually need. Not just signing one player from Kia in the hope he does us a favour in the future
